Title: Strange WiFi problem
Post by: Auto Addict on 27 February 2013, 17:25:30
Benn having trouble with the WiFi dropping off accassionaly, over the last week.

Decided to have a look around the router, for any info - not reporting any problems.

Since then, touch wood, hasn't dropped off for 4 hours now, was dropping off every 5 mins or so.

Strange. :-\

When you say dropping, do you mean internet connection (no loading of pages) or the connection to your router (saying no signal) If its the latter, try changing the channel, this will be in its config/settings.

Might be getting interference  :y

Could be, but Inssider tells me I'm the only one on my channel.

3 possible reasons

- interference with some electronic device ..

- device driver problem

- someone using jammer around you

Strange though, since I opened up the router software, the problem have gone away.

I've been running Internet Connectivity Monitor for about 5 hours now, and no disconnection problems :y

Spoke too soon, but I've found out it's the internet not the WiFi that's disconnecting.

I'll send my provider an email.

Serves you right for going with a tin-pot pikey ISP ;D

Is voice ok on that line, as I suspect its a line fault somewhere - unless its an old router, and your ISP have moved you to 21cn/WBC, in which case you may find your router starts getting a monk on, and crashing.

Voice seems OK, problem is, and it's happened before, we are right at the end of a line, the exchange is miles away.

The solution in the past has been to 'tweek' up the line.

This is my exchange http://www.samknows.com/broadband/exchange/CMERD and 21cn/WBC is enabled.

You're not that far from Exchange, but no idea what route it takes.
