Interesting turn of events. I still believe that BT should never have been forced to sell O2.

I think Telefonica is struggling and needs cash!

There have been messages from Sky of late that they are changing their email. Haven't read it all yet but Yahoo are involved somwhere along the line.....

There had been rumours for a few days, but nothing concrete. I must say, I didn't believe the rumours...  ...but in retrospect, it makes perfect sense - O2 is a large LLU provider (after buying Be a few years back), and LLU is NOT the place to be now. Sky's Internet strategy looks confused, but guessing if their end game is to do away with satellites and thus requiring LLU.

BT were never forced to sell O2. In fact they didn't ;)

Because of mismanagement, both within BT under Bonfield and Cellnet under Erskine, there was too much debt. So Cellnet was spun off I to a seperate company, mmO2. It was a while before Telefonica bought mmO2 ;)

Looking at the subscriber numbers it looks more like Sky are playing the numbers game and just want to be bigger than Virgin..

Thats because in a few months, Yahoo! are going to have shitloads of space capacity, as they are losing a lot more mailboxes than Sky can buy ::)
