Our trusty old Panasonic DECT phones were dying a slow and painful death, and I have had my eyes out for a replacement for a while.
Anyway, while logging onto the BT site to report an unrelated fault, I saw an advert for their new phones BT6500, with built in call blocking....

Did a little research, and ordered a set.
Got to say, They do what they say on the tin!
Nice menu to block calls on categories of International, withheld, payphone etc, or individual numbers.
Works by silently sending what you select to the answerphone (in case it was genuine)
We were getting up to 5-6 international calls a day sometimes, a right Pain in the bum.
Now REALLY enjoying the peace.
As for the rest of the phones function, Im not overkeen on the design, and buttons, and they seem a little sluggish in operation, but do like the autosyncing phonebooks.
I bet in a year, all the manufacturers will have copied the feature. But if like us, you are sick of useless phonecalls all day, then I cannot recommend these enough, they have given us our peace back.
Well done BT!
obviously it would be best to be able to log onto your BT account and block these at source, but where is the incentive for them to do that, would be killing a nice little earner for them, this way they still get their connection charge ;)

Just read up about it, looks good :y
The only problem would be, when Mrs AA phones me from her work, the number is witheld.
-
For me, I only wanted the international blocking....You set each category yourself.
Far too many useful withheld calls here too. very few of them are actually marketing ones, as TPS has sorted those out anyway.

I interrupted one caller to ask if he'd heard of the TPS. He said ' WTF is that' & hung up on me!!!!! :o ;D ;D ;D

Wouldn't really help on the latest batch of nuisance calls. 0503 is all that comes up, or 0003..... All asian callers.
-
Not a problem here. :-\
But I thought there was a web site that removed your number from the call lists? Sure i used it a phew years ago. Takes a month or two for the calls to wind down, but it worked.

Ah that will be tps then. ;D

And fairly ineffective in the whole.
Its an industry run body, and set up in such a way, that anyone can bypass the rules.
Genuine companies who care about service do obey it. Nobody else does.
International are not covered at all. Recorded messages, which are the current plague, aren't either.

TPS registered.
Even with annonymous caller rejection enabled some calls still get thru & the number isn`t stored.
As soon as I hrear a faint echo of myself saying "hello" I usually hang up.

With TPS...if you are a customer of a company, like banks, BT etc, they do not have to abide by TPS. They are allowed to contact you. Thats why marketing companies, working for your company, can get by the rules, ring you and try to sell you whatever.
Check the small print :y

Should do. From the call list you can select add to block list so can't see why it wouldn't work

Been reading reviews on this. some say when you block international calls. then mobiles cannot get through
-
whats up with you lot
its a phone call
it rings you dont like it but it down[it doesnt bite!
its not hard
heres another idea
go out a bit more you wouldnt have so many calls, and you might enjoy life more!
-
I've had no problems with mobiles ringing. R1. Your lucky you don't get an unbearable volume of these disturbing your life and sleep. Become a major problem here for various reasons
-
Now I've had a proper look, Jimbob, it would block those numbers. Says 'on order' in the bt shop.
