Title: Sky HD offer
Post by: Paddy Flannery on 02 March 2013, 18:00:52
Got a letter from Sky this morning asking me to come back to HD. £2.50 a month for 12 months. I thought, that's ok so went online, logged in and no such offer is shown. Went to the online chat.... Not available at this time. Finally rang them today. " We have no trace of that offer, try ringing us back on Monday"

Their products are excellent, pricey but good but their customer service is pure pish.  >:(

Ring them and tell them you want to cancel your contract and go with Talk Talk , we did and they gave us free HD  :P

I asked for disconnections dept. 20 minute wait. Either that's true and lots of people are hacked off or that's in the script so that we never get to speak to cancellations and just keep watching the direct debit leave every month.   >:(

As Terbet said above, was this related to Sky Protect offer?

If not can you send me a copy of the letter? Can do some digging for you  :y

Got the same offer for HD for £2.50 for 12 months.

But was telling a friend about it, and she said she had been offered a full sky package plus something ragrds movies, sports and possibly HD for £10.75 I think she said for 12 months.

Personally I think Sky ought to get thier act together and condider the loyal customers they still have, coz if I had the option of cable I think I would jump ship tomorrow. :-\

What does the insurance cover ? Something from the sky falling on me like a satellite, a piece of moon rock ?

Mr Skrunts,

I agree. There is no reward for loyalty these days. As I said, Sky provide an excellent service but I have no choice as I can't get Freeview etc where I live. Been with them over 20 years and the difficulties I had yesterday really annoyed me. They basically didn't believe me and said they weren't aware of any such offer or any such mailshot of that offer.

Not impressed.

Tunnie,

Many thanks for your efforts.

No probs  :y

Can understand your frustration, my gut feeling is that you may have been routed to one of the "contracted" call centres who were not updated with latest offers.

I'm in Mobile Development myself, don't get much visibility of marketing that goes on.  :(

Tunnie,

Many thanks for your efforts.

Finally got traction on this. Original offer has been applied, along with I believe, a further 2 additional offers.  :y

You are lucky to have a choice ;) If I want to be able to see 5 decent channels I have to go with Sky/Freesat as the Digital signal is crap through an aerial and there's no cable ;)

But, to be fair, I'm happy enough. Although it would be nice to see some rewards for loyal customers :y

A public thank you to Tunnie for showing an interest, getting involved and not letting go.

All sorted to my satisfaction but I was getting nowhere until Tunnie persevered.

This might wander slightly of thread, but I had a cold call yesterday from some Sky insurance firm. The sales pitch dragged on a bit without allowing me to tell him NO,so I interrurpped him and told him not interested and switched the phone off.
The phone rung straight back, showing the same witheld number,so I let go to answer machine, then he kept ringing back until the wife answered it.
This bloke told her that I had been rude to him,she then denied this because I had just told NO I did not want Sky insursance,he then called her rude for talking over him whilst he was talking,so she just hung up on him.

If the phone number had not been witheld I've have phned the company back, but I think I've have been wasteing my time .

I HATE cold callers.

The firm was called Sky or were they trying to sell you insurance for your set top box? (which is illegal from 3rd parties, so i've been told)

Hi Tunnie, most prob a outside company,at least Sky shows you it phone number ( it costs a fortune to call them) I've gobbsmacked by the attitude of that bloke, wish I had his home phone number so that I could return the favour.

I've had a similar call myself.

Cold Caller: "Sir, I'm here to sell you insurance for your set top box, did you know Sky don't insure them?"
Me:"Oh really?"
Cold Caller: "Yes Sir, what would you do if yours failed now? They would charge you £300 to replace, £50 for visit to install it"
Me:"Nah, would not cost me that"
Cold Caller: "oh it would sir, how would you replace it?"
Me: "I'd walk down to the other end of my office building, walk into the production Sky+ testing team, who have 100's of combinations of which set top boxes Sky have and firmware versions, I'd say, Hey Mick, got a spare I can have?"
Cold Caller: SILENCE
Me: "Oh did I not say? I work for Sky, this service you are selling is illegal & i'm recording the call"
