Any of them, but the one in question which caught my eye was the 9-5 Hot Aero model/spec .. Like the one in the link ...
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/140925891290;jsessionid=9A834C92A03CB7F5D5F5907E9DE57A24?ru=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fsch%2Fi.html%3F_from%3DR40%26_sacat%3D0%26_nkw%3D140925891290%26_rdc%3D1
They seem to be well equipped and have plenty of power around 250bhp I believe and some of them even come with cooling seats :o ideal for hot summers (if we ever see any this year god knows :D)
Yes they are FWD and not particularly good looking and possibly cramp inside from posts on google ,and Saab is no longer in production making petrol cars just electric or something like that I heard, but it's a decent car for the prices they fetch now.. Haven't driven one so I could be wrong, does anyone own one or have had one or had any experiences with these hot aero Saabs.. :-\
Hopefully going to see a 2000/01 Saab 9-5 Hot Aero Auto Saloon this weekend, from the pics it doesn't seem to have heated seats which is odd but apparently they where hit and miss around this age and don't have xenon's till after 2002 or around there.
:)
-
Didn't they suffer from some sort of oil pick up problem? I know it's a GM engine but to make it fit they did something with the sump or oil pump and it isn't uncommon for them to suffer catastrophic oil failure.
-
Yep I think the early ones did like around the year of the one I'm going to see. :-X
Read the description of this one and apparently this one doesn't suffer from this problem. ::)

"IT ALSO FEATURES THE LATER ENGINE BREATHER SYSTEM (NEWEST STYLE) WHICH PREVENTS THE OIL PICK UP FROM BECOMING BLOCKED BY SLUDGE, WHICH WAS A PROBLEM ON EARLIER MODELS"
-
Once again a lot of car for little money.
-
never.. its parts are rare as hens teeth (here) and if you are lucky to find , you pay an arm and a leg..
besides its double the price of omega ???
-
Always liked these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SAAB-900-TURBO-8V-3-DR-HATCHBACK-PETROL-MANUAL-/310447385026?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item48481b29c2 more stylish than the newer stuff , built like tanks and drink fuel like one ;D
-
recently sold my 9-5 aero hot, breather kit/sump drop are the most important things to check on them breather kit around £100 and sump drop around 50-60 that includes oil change,if you do the jobs yourself, very good guides online and pretty straight forward, great cars very comfortable but thirsty.Parts not a problem through dealer or specialist.anything specific ask away.
-
Those Aero seats are simply brilliant, soooo comfy!
-
I bought a facelift Saab 95 Aero HOT Estate recently, fabulous car for the money. 250bhp+ B235R high output turbo.
The dreaded oil problem that is being referred to is the age old issue of incorrect oil being used and infrequent oil drops; they should be run on fully synthetic oil and if semi has been used an the changes themselves have not been too frequent then a deposit of sludge will build in the sump and block/starve the pick up pipe resulting in a fubarred engine. Mine had a full Saab service history and one owner from new, not to mention v low miles, so it's all documented, but if in doubt then all owners recommend dropping the sump and cleaning it out.
Other things to look out for; direct injection cartridges can fail without warning and mine appears to be the only Saab in the country with all three SID's working perfectly without any dead pixels!
Aero seats are mega comfortable and come in three guises; leather, half leather and 90% leather. They also came with options of motorized seats, heated and air cooled. A range of wheels on 'em, mine are the multi spoke looking 17 inchers.
Very quick, very awesome, very cheap considering you're pulling German superbarge speeds (Clarkson claimed that the 95 Aero is quicker/has more torque than a 911 Turbo in the lower gears) and super comfortable.

That's nonsense on both counts. Parts are readily available and I am using all new genuine parts for less than the cost of aftermarket. Don't forget this is a GM car so many items are available from your Vauxhall parts desk. But there are a wealth of genuine bits available for them and they're no more expensive than Omega bits.

yep..
I know 2 biggest opel dealers (in capitol-Ankara) parts shop responsibles very closely.. one of them tried to convince other to sell saab parts years ago.. when one succeeded , he was very happy .. because those cars are rare here and keeping any stock was a big headache and investment..
and now situation is worse.. :-\
and a final note: the one who convinced other , had a problem with owner later ad transferred to the other service where he convinced and now working for the parts shop again ;D ;D ;D ;D
here is an example

this car costs 19600£ approx.. for that money you can buy 3 omegas here and 100 omegas in UK ;D ;D

Yes, the 93 AWD V6 turbo - the most of which I see on 09 and 59 plates
Don't know that I would go there now as they ain't made any more
I suppose the equivalent would be the Insignia VXR (?same engine/chassis?)

I had a 2006 93 2.8 V6 Aero, I can honestly say it is one of the most lovely cars I've ever owned. A lot of people get strung up on the "oh the 93 is a Vectra", the chassis setup is 60% different and they feel and handle totally different to any Vectra I've driven.

If I'm not mistaken that's the Vectra/Insignia VXR engine (with a Saab set up) I've heard a few video's on YouTube and they sound like the VXR , nice lovely rumbler :-* :y

To give you a guide in advance of your viewing tomorrow, I paid £1200 for mine - that was a facelift 95 Aero HOT estate with full leather, 70k miles, one owner from new, a full and comprehensive Saab service history, a years MOT, a couple of months road tax, mint engine and bodywork (save for a slight scuff on front bumper), 17-inch multispokes, virtually new tyres, all three SIDs without dead pixels etc. I had it up on the ramps shortly after getting it home and it is in really exceptional condition. Rear wheel bearing will need replacing in the not-too-distant (complete hub assembly) but that's a £50 part so all in all I think I did OK. I appreciate I got a great deal but it's useful to know if you're hoping to compare like for like.

No moreso than any other vehicle out of production with parts that are no longer serviced.

Thanks, will keep that in mind :y
This one I'm off to see is around the £500/£600 mark with around 135,000 on the clock.

I have customers with them,no problems here either.I reckon mechanical parts will be fine its trim etc that will get scarce first.

The saab parts division is a seperate entity to the car manufacturing side of things and is actually turning good profits, never had any problems at all .

No.
Never.

Always liked these http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SAAB-900-TURBO-8V-3-DR-HATCHBACK-PETROL-MANUAL-/310447385026?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item48481b29c2 more stylish than the newer stuff , built like tanks and drink fuel like one ;D
Lovelly - I had a 5 door one of these. With a whale tail, 8 spoke minilites and an intercooler from the 16v fitted 8) - I've not owned anything since that put such a smile on my face :D.
OK - so you had to set your alarm clock for the turbo lag :-\, had to keep your wits about you especially exiting wet roundabouts under full throttle :o - but oh so delightful for passing a line of cars on 500m of clear A road in front of you :y.
Iron worm finally killed it at 205k miles :-[
I love Saabs - the early 900/93 shapes went a bit south - but the 95 estates still tug my heart. The new new 95 looks loverrrly - shame there aren't many about and probably become quite a rare sight. probably hold their value too :-\ :-[

Trim is always the first to become scarce. That's because it isn't a service part for dealers, so it's special order from the manufacturer's parts system. It's rarely needed anyway, so stocks are very low. Finally, there are usually so many different colours/materials/spec changes, that it's often impossible to source new even for a car that's a few years old.
I can't see mechanical parts for fairly recent Saabs being a problem for sometime; after all Omegas aren't an issue, and they've been out of production for years. I'd also bet there are more similarly aged Saabs on the road than there are Omegas. Saab has long had a dedicated/fanatical following, whereas the Omega is just a big Vauxhall with no image whatsoever to lift the values.

I wouldn't say that there's OOF for starters and like any brand of car there are fanatics and there are plenty of Vauxhall fanatics along with other car brands. But I understand what your saying.

Got a 2003 Saab 95 vector estate . 3.0L turbo diesel. Pics on here somewhere. I think it's a fantastic car, looks good and goes like stink.
I like the 95 saloon, but think the 93 from 04 plate onwards is a "prettier" car.

Seen it and its a pretty decent car, although its a totally different experiance driving it compared to the stable RWD Omega, it's almost got too much power for a FWD car and feels a little light on the steering... It's comfy although not noticeably better than any Omega, and the layout of the egnition and electric windows are daft imo. Apart from that its a decent Omega replacement but the "Y" reg one I saw there's no point really if it was "03" onwards I would have probably bought it... It did look good in black though I must say and very unusual 3 spoke alloys which look good on it.
