Post by: omega3000 on 08 March 2013, 09:55:57
Whats the purpose of the stepper motor ? Im trying to sort the starting issue still on the 106 , its still intermitent  >:( one search said if the car fails to start at any point to try lifting the throttle peddle up , i tried this and the car started so im in 2 minds to change the stepper motor but would like to know what this stepper motor function is before i do so  :-\

Stepper motors are most often used on engine systems for idle control, in your case its most likely either working a bypass port in the throttle body or the throttle butterfly itself

Looking at the stepper motor there is a metal spike that leans onto the throttle that moves when you operate the pedal in the car , i cant understand how this works in conjunction with throttle ? The spike is retractable when ignition off but when the car is started the spike engages ... because i found i can start the car lifting the pedal seems to me that the stepper motor is not functioning correctly or only working intermittently  :(
Should i replace this part ?
