Up top!
Behind the turbo heading down towards the down pipe.
More like a guaze than a cat. not much value in removing it.

There's no point, it's not restrictive. :)

so what did you remove the lower cat?
-
Removed the innards from the second cat. :y

Which is the only way to pass an MOT... If it's not there it is a fail ;)

Whats this?? Is it just a smoke test still or emissions based now?
-
Smog test only. They are looking to bring in a visual check that the cat is present but no other test.
Removing it's innards helps the acceleration from a standing start and adds a couple of MPG on motorway runs. Best to do this mod then get it remapped, though it all depends if your VP44 lasts long enough to get to a remap stage..... :'(

Vp44?
-
Oh is that what you killed on your DTi?

I think it died of natural causes m'lord :)
.....As they all do eventually.... tick tick tick!

The major cause of VP44 issues is problems elsewhere......

The major cause of VP44 issues is problems elsewhere......
Two main causes of faults on VP44's
1) Lubrication issues of the mechanical side of the pump
2) Failure of EDC (multiple issues but usually fixed with the correct soldering equipment - which alas I do not have.... :'( - ultimately, I'm not prepared to pay the costs to have the EDC repaired on a 170K car as there's too many other potential failure points to consider)

So what are you going to do with it?

Body is same style and same colour as my 3.2, Engine and other diesel related parts are the same as Mrs VXL's Estate, NCDC / CID / MP3 modulator, mats, rear blind, refurbished headlights, poly bushes, wheels with Toyo T1R's, Heat reflective windscreen etc etc etc will end up being migrated to the next 'daily driver omega' when it's purchased. At the end there won't be much left that doesn't get used :y
