Until a couple of months ago I wasn't a lover of Indian food, however I've had a couple of takeaways and a couple of visits to restaurants lately and am loving the stuff.
I made a chicken phal last week that swmbo couldn't eat as it was too hot but I loved it. She's more into the Korma but its too creamy for me.
There seems to be so many styles/sauces that being a novice I haven't a clue what to go for. I had Sri Lanka chicken the other night, it was pretty good.
And peshwari naan is surely food of the gods! Fantastic stuff!!
So what do you guys chomp on?

Sniff... .... Sniff sniff....?
Did someone mention curry? :)
-
Jalfrezi is my normal choice, but I have been known to wander :) Not over keen with stuff with too much coconut or cream in it, I find they tend to be too sweet. I do find that in a decent restaurant, talking to the waiter and asking advice has often got me really, really nice stuff that I wouldn't normally try ... always worth a try :)
My problem is my Grandfather was with the Foreign Office/Embassy Service in India for over 20 years, Mum and 3 of her sisters all born out there, and when he retired to live in the UK he (and Grandmother) bought back their ayah as a friend/cook as she had been with them 20 odd years and had no other life. Lovely old dear, and boy could she cook, nothing was ever measured it was just abit of this and some of that .. but it tasted divine, and I remember eating it as far back as the age of 10 ... so I was a bit spoilt really ...
However, it does simply prove that a good Curry is God's gift to mankind :y :y :y :y

Hi, you must try a chicken madras side dish of bombay potatoes,a rice of your choice & a stuffed paratha or two ! Oh & not forgetting some onion bhajis this is my typical Saturday night out, it's great .
-
Korma with onion bhajis and vegstable samosa's for starters .
-
Tandoori chicken all the way :y :y
-
Chicken or Lamb balti but ask for it spiced up a bit, tons of flavour and a nice bit of heat. Or if I am in a different mood Chicken Chilli garlic ,you can't tell what you are crunching a big cob of garlic or a crazy chilli :o
I'm bleeding starving now :'(
-
I love curries, especially Vindaloo, going with Phal is really at the top end and some restaurants serve this as liquid fire! However as I get older I usually stay with the relatively mild Ceylon or Madras for the flavour. There is such a fabulous range of dishes and heat levels that you can never get bored with them, sod it now I am feeling hungry.
-
I don't do really hot stuff, I love it, but I need loads of Ranitidine afterwards
For me Chicken Tikka Roghan, Sag Bhaji, Keema Nan. Spelling changes from restaurant to restaurant. Not quite every time, but almost ! Boring but yummy ! PLUS . . . . a few pints of Mongoose beer :y :y

Nom Nom Nom... Curry! ::) ::) ::)
I'm quite partial to a Ceylon too, although have been considering branching out and seeing what the waiter recommends :-\ :-\
Unfortunately I don't get as many curries in as I would like as SWMBO is severely allergic so it tends to just be a treat occasionally :'( :'(
-
Chicken Sag with a Peshwari Naan for me!! :y
-
Im now hungry.
-
Don't forget popadoms & pickles for starters mango chutney lime pickle, raita & chopped onions gets the flavour buds tingling!! I am also partial to vindaloo, my local curry house (who know me well ) always refer to their phal as chicken domestos I am rather fond of that as well, in fact I just love an Indian ..
-
My favourite popadoms and pickles, prawn puri starter, chicken vindaloo, with pilau rice and keema naan. Home made or a takeaway. :y :y :y
At home I often also make a chicken and pineapple curry, which is very moreish. :y :y :y

Never eat the foreign muckment have tried it can't bloody stand it. I want to taste my food not hot spices. To be honest we used to go to a brilliant Indian every Friday night and Azam the owner tried me with everything he cooked, and I've got to admit the initial taste and piquancy were brilliant I just don't want the sensation after I've eaten it. ;D
-
I've got a mate who loves a chicken Phal which his local takeaway makes one 'specially' for his own personal taste level, and I've tasted it only once and it numbs the the mouth better that a shot of Novacaine...I wonder if it numbs yer bum the next morning :o :o ::)
-
Inedible shite imo.Indians wouldnt be caught dead eating the crap which we refer to as Indian food. :D

I've tried it, it's SHITE. ;D ;D ;D
The only reason that it so freaking spiced is that the quality of meat in Indian is at best putrid, got to disguise it with something :D :D ;D

Here we go , starts off well & goes downhill, spent several years in India most of them wouldn't eat the muck most British people have.
-
Don't have Indian very often, though when we do, I'll probably have a Vindaloo whilst Mrs Seth'll have a Korma.
Both of us'll compliment 'em with mango chutney, onion bhajis, poppadums, rice and chips.
Quite enjoyed the horse vindaloo last time too! (https://dl.dropbox.com/u/43954633/rofl.gif)
Slightly off topic, Mike Dundee's Thai curry at Newent a few years back was friggin' excellent! :y

If you lot stuck to good old BRITISH food, or at least stick to european cuisine when dining out and cooked curries at home, then we could cut immigration by thousands ::) ::) ;D ;D

Best food avalble is curry. been to many good eaterys through out the country as i used to work away from home a lot. a good takeaway that used to be near me did a dish called meat methi. i would have that spiced up to madras. fantastic flavour. The extra spice heat made the flavours so intense. Have you tried any Nepolese yet. Not always hot spices but very intense flavoursome dishes if done correctly. tried a coup[le of differant resturants and have now found a new one has opened close to me. Will give it a try next takeaway evening (counting down the days..........)

I've done a couple of "small" jobs for indian families I have worked for before, not cost me anything so just say "Cook me a curry" never known what they where but always lovely - especially the "veggy" one's
Trouble is nobody else in this house likes curry so don't get much chance but always like a Korma and naan from the local kebab shop when I've had a beer out.
By the way where is the curry monster - "me want curry" - TB
