Title: Well chuffed
Post by: Tony H on 15 March 2013, 19:11:39
My other car a 27 year old Mk 2 Fiesta 1.1 Ghia just flew it's MOT.  :y A few minor advisories, still on the road for another 12 months at least. Insurance on a classic car policy, fully comp £100 per annum  :)

It'll never become tax exempt unless the rules change  ::) ::)

Tax exempt cars are those that were manufactured in 1972  ;) ;)

Or earlier,go back to 1960 and it won't need mot'ing either :o

Maybe, but I understand that without an MOT you won't get insurance, company policy not legal requirement........ :-\ :-\

Originally the idea was to have a rolling 25 yr exemption ...... it was very quickly dropped by Labour when they came into power in 1997!  >:( Hence the 1972 cut off.

Good one Tony! :y :y :y

I always reckon that if you can keep a car going long enough it becomes a cheap, reliable vehicle that goes on and on. 8) 8) 8) 8)

My father-in-law had a Fiesta Ghia from 1975; it was still going in 2002!  He then died and the car was sold on to a collector. 8) 8) 8)

My 20 year old Toyota Carina II Estate was also another example of a car I kept going for 6 years, and it actually became cheaper and cheaper to run.  I then decided to go back to miggy ownership and I PX'd it for £375 - £75 more than I paid for it! :D :D :D :D ;)

Keep yours going Tony! ;) ;)
