I don't want to do it but she's coming off the road!
Got to work this morning and water was running out the bottom!!!! The cars, not mine! ;)
Anyway, I could just throw on a new pump but there is a list of things that I want to get done so she will be on my drive for a while.
Also, I don't have a garage so time AND the weather will have to cooperate too... ::)
I have a bunch of parts too but I just don't have the time....
So the list of jobs....
1, water pump! and thermostat
2, cam cover seals
3, breather system clean up
4, clean the engine (very oily and mucky)
5, new belts
6, 3.2 exhaust manifolds
7, remove EGR and SAI
8, AC condenser
9, front arms (maybe Pollyanna bushes?)
10, Steering idler arm
11, hand brake cable
12, Full service......
While I'm doing that lot, is there anything I should think about???
-
Don't forget oil and filters. ;) :y

:y they are in with the service :y
-
Drop links. Inexpensive, and updating will compliment the poly bushes :y
IMHO anyway :)
-
what does 6 and 7 achieve?
-
What are you doing to the AC condenser?
Personally, I'm removing mine and much of the bits that go with it (what comes off without too much effort)
Also going 3.2 manifolds with no EGR or SAI ;)
-
Details about SAI removal, please.

Details about SAI removal, please.
Pretty straight forward, remove bagpipes, remove SAI pipework leaving just the rubber hoses that connect the exhaust manifold sections and block those with a 15mm copper pipe end-stop inserted backwards and using the spring clip to secure it. The only other thing you have to block off is the vacuum hose to the solenoid valve then you can remove the pump from behind the front bumper too. Don't forget to remove fuse 29b from the engine bay fuse box - itt's the big red 50 amp one.
-
Thanks! :y

As sjc has said but it's just dead weight to carry around plus it cleans up the front of the engine.
The manifold flo better and the EGR is there to bock up the vent system... Remove that and it will go a long way to stop the cam cover seals going later....

Changing the AC because the old one is falling apart.... And I like cool air in the summer!!! :-)

Ok, today I made a very small start but....
When I took off the "Bagpipes" and found that some of the mounts were broken...
Also, on the back is a small square-ish box with a couple of vac pipes going into it...
Both pipe have been rubbing on the Aux belt one is worn but not holed the other is completely cut so I will replace them both..
Just out of interest, the cut pipe goes round the left side of the engine to a valve or something on the left back of the plenum, Any ideas what it all does???

Rear multi-ram possibly. Circled yellow in pic

The pipe that goes to the rear or the plenum feeds the rear multi-ram actuator. So you will have an air leak and poor power above 4k. I've got plenty spare lengths of that pipe if you need any.

The 3.2 manifolds don't have SAI ports so you can save yourself a few plumbing fittings :y

If you you want it to run cooler and not to fussed about the air con, you can remove the air con fans and the rest of the air con set up
You will need a non air con aux belt if you go down this route, so the cav v6 is the one to go for for :y

Dazzer, I do wanna keep the AC...
I hadn't notice it loose power so maybe it's been like it for a while.
Thanks Rob and Albitz...

I'm going to take my time but I can tell you one thing I'm not going to do...
I'm not honing to rip out the AC!!! Lol

Right then...
Tonight, I thought I would tear down the front end... and this is what I found...
What a mess!!!
(http://i556.photobucket.com/albums/ss2/KillerDave/Omega/DSC_0569.jpg) (http://s556.photobucket.com/user/KillerDave/media/Omega/DSC_0569.jpg.html)
And the water pump...
(http://i556.photobucket.com/albums/ss2/KillerDave/Omega/DSC_0571.jpg) (http://s556.photobucket.com/user/KillerDave/media/Omega/DSC_0571.jpg.html)
Is it usual for the o-ring on the water pump to be split?
That wasn't the cause of the leak, it must've been leaking for ages, I did use some water...
Also, on the intake and vac system, I have ALOT of oil sitting about...
Is this a bad sign???
Any comments welcome as usual...
