Title: 2.0 fire fings
Post by: JamesV6CDX on 10 May 2008, 21:02:53
Hi all,

Is the X20XEV in an Omega meant to have metal fire rings on the head gasket to go around the bores?

I've just removed the head and gasket from the 2.0, and there are NO fire rings, just composite material.

Is this right, or has something gone very wrong?  ::)

Fair play, that engine is in a BAD way ... !

Won't be by next weekend, though!

Never seen a HG without metal rings around the bores

So.. Have they burnt away (does the gasket material reach the edge of the bores?) or has someone bodged it with a cheapo gasket / one cut from an old conflakes packet?
