We went to the butchers today and first time in ages and mainly because we had some sausages from the supermarket that tasted funny ::) So the butcher recommended the local fast selling hand made brand , £2 for eight sausages . Dont know if thats good or bad value :-\ He said the shops been doing a roaring trade since the horse meat fiasco , so if these sausages are tasty we will be going back for more :)

Horse sausages eh :y

Horse sausages eh :y
The frozen ones from the supermarket were a well known brand , we had them for ages but the last lot were horrid :( Maybe they transferred the trotter meat to the sausages ;D

Why don't the supermarkets sell horse meat. I'd eat it, and I believe others also would.
They're missing a trick if you ask me.

Horsemeat that is fit for human consumption is expensive stuff. And it has a taste that has not yet been acquired by the folk in the splendid city of Wakefield. ;D

Really?. I heard that it was less expensive than beef.......also generally more tender and lower in saturated fat.
Tesco briefly sold Kangaroo meat. It tasted like best steak.

Horsemeat may, indeed, be cheaper than the best cuts of beef. But when you're serving a population that buys stewing steak by the ton........ :-\

What worries me every time me and the misses go shopping another one of our favs has been taken off the shelves ,been horse meat problems dont you know. Now when this finaly gets sorted (and how long can it take)will we still like the cheap burgers/prosessed meat etc when all the horse meat has gone.
ps used to be a butcher for a well known high st shop and you dont want to know. ;D

I have a excellent butchers near me that does all sorts, veal, rabbit, goat, venison etc.
I had some wild boar sausages from them last night, very nice they were too.
The quality of the meat in tesco is shocking, and if you think their finest range is anything other than the normal stuff in a different box you'd be wrong.
I won't even go in to what happens to it out the back of the shop either, but if you ever get a sticky packet, it's most likely rats wee, and not the leaked can of coke you hoped it was :-\
