Title: Car insurance ( I know, again)
Post by: STMO123 on 18 March 2013, 16:18:50
For those of you who really don't think that you can save money by ditching your current insurer, please think again. I have just saved £190 by switching from aviva to direct line.
I told the young man from aviva, with whom I have been a customer for 15 years, that I wasn't getting at him or aviva, it's common practice for existing customers to pay high premiums to subsidise new customers.
Here's the rub...he totally agreed with me and said, if direct line bump it up next year, come back to us for a quote. It will probably come down by a couple of hundred quid.
What can you say to that?

You can't recommend any one company. They're all at it. It's just a case of year by year and taking the time to hunt around.

He says after 15 years withe same insurer :-[

Yes, I did. But you're such a tight git, I was trying to get you to part with some of it. ;D
Besides, you're never going to get cheap insurance living in the rough area you do.

Bit harsh, Mr Steve. We can't all be lucky enough to live in sunny Wakefield. ;) ;D

Im with Chaucer now for the 2nd yr. I tried everyone and all the ''comparers'' when the renewal came in but they were only something like £13 more expensive than the next quote so I stayed with them as I was more than happy with the service after my accident. I do think its just a matter of shopping around each yr and it doesnt really take that long to do it but unless your getting a big saving sometimes its worth sticking with a company you know gives good customer service. Well thats my 2 bob's worth anyway! :y

Oldham used to be good - Oldham Breweries mild in the Springhead Liberal Club and packets of prawns (aka Oldham tapas) in the salesman's tray, Mumps station and West Pennine Water Board where I had a new SWB Landrover to do some work on the reservoirs - lovely scenery. Ah those were the days. Even Glodwick was ok in those days.

Ouch, just to rub salt into the wound my 19 year old son has just had his renewal come through. He is with elephant and drives a 2.0 SRi Astra with all the factory fit Irmscher bits. Renewal price £1270. Checked on line and can get it down to £1120 but slightly less cover on that policy. Oh and he has only 2 years NCB.
