Title: suspension parts removal

I intend to change front suspension arms & both shocks & springs on my mig. I did the suspension arms about 7yrs ago with no problems but front shocks are new to me. (though I don't envisage any problems. ) but if anybody has any knowledge or the best way to go about the job any input will be most appreciated.  :y :y

Removing the struts isn't difficult; you remove the 2 bolts  attaching them to the hub carrier, and undo the top nut under the bonnet.
The thing to remember is that you need some robust spring compressors to go any further.

The car will need the wheel alignment done immediately afterwards.

  is there enough height to use a pair of standard size compressors. ? the wheel alignment is sorted on finished job. thankyou :y :y

Minor point, that the drop link to roll bar will need to be removed from the shocks to. But its all fairly obvious.

There are guides on persevering and re setting the camber to somewhere near. But full geometric set up will be needed regardless, as Nick implies.... :)

The compressors aren't used until the entire strut is off the car, and are used to compress the spring to allow you to dismantle the strut to replace the shock.

So:
Remove wheel, blah blah blah
Unclip brake line and sensor from strut.
Undo top droplink connection
Undo the 2 lower shock to knuckle bolts
Loosen the top nut (visible from engine bay, under plastic cap)
Support strut (2nd pair of hands is handy), and remove top nut.

Carry strut to workbench, compress spring, and strip further from top until you can remove spring. Note the order in which parts come off.
