Mine keeps going off when it feels like it & for no particular reason.
Why? :-?

i had the same problem with my mitsubishi fto, never found out why, i sold it in the end ;D :y

Bonnet switch..or..powersounder :y

Was just about to reply regarding the bonnet sensor when it went off again! When it goes off the indicators do'nt flash. If i lock the car & open the boot the indicators flash but no audible alarm. Can't lock the boot manually, the key won't turn far enough.
I look back fondly to when i could "go off" 3 or 4 times a day!!! :D

I think perhaps if the indicators aren`t flashing it might be a faulty powersounder. :y
Sorry, I can`t help with your 'shortcomings' ;D

Sounds like the power sounder to me. Sometimes it goes nuts and just goes off on its own (no indicators) and sometimes it's triggering the main alarm. Sounds like the alarm horn is perhaps not working if you can get a silernt alarm condition but first job is to lift the scuttle and disconnect the power sounder IMO.

Ok, sounds good but what is powersounder? :-? ::)

It's an additional alarm siren that has its' own internal batteries so it can continue to sound if some scrote pulls the main battery terminals.
It's fitted in addition to a conventional horn on the alarm system which is much louder but relies on the vehicle's battery.
Both are mounted just behind the driver's side front suspension turret under the scuttle cover. The power sounder is a little plastic siren with a 4 pin electrical connector. The conventional horn has a 2 pin connector and looks like a normal car horn.
