Thanks ozzycat, and power to your elbow! :y :y :y :y :y

Your case, and many I have heard of locally, make this new poorly thought out change a nonsense, with in many cases the State/ Taxpayers having to eventually pick up a bill that will  be far greater than the savings made.

Individuals like you have had wet rooms and other modifications made to their houses to cope with their disabilities before the announcement to introduce the tax was made.  So a couple move to a smaller property to save on the Council Tax bill, but then have  to obtain a grant of say £15-20,000 to modify their new home!  Oh yes, a really sensible policy - not!! ::) ::) ::)

Being slightly contraversial, I agree with thhe new approach as its the only effective way of maximising housing utilisation.

However, the issue is the one of exceptions such as this case, clearly the house is fully utilised and consequently needs to be exempted from such moves.

Ozzycat I think what you need to do is go and see your council (housing benefit) and explain your situation. There is a pot of cash put by for people in your situation..this may help you out on the short term (1-2 years) But give them a ring and go and see them.  :y
