Looks like I might have traced my slight missfire down to a plug lead so will be replacing all 6 ,hopefully in the next day or so if it gets a bit warmer ;D
Question is can they be replaced with the scuttle left in place, just by removing plenum chamber as I really don,t want to end up trying to reseal the scuttle panel after I have mangaed to get it fully watertight and also don,t think new sealant would dry correctly in this temperature. >:(
-
Hmmmm. It maybe possible but your gonna need standing order of plasters. Much easier with shuttle off
-
Plasters are standard issue with these cars ;D and I still have old skin left on the back of the firewall from various other ventures to change HBV /Coolant transfer pipe seal etc etc. >:(
Just was hoping somebody would say...Yes . :y...its a doddle and can easily be done with scuttle left in place ,but was kidding myself really ;D
-
Yes its a doddle :-* just need to know where to phase your hands though :y
-
Cheers Daz :y for words of encouragement
Got to get this thing running properly as almost scared to use it >:(
-
I remember trying to get into the back pot passenger side , what a pig >:( Did it with shuttle off though im sure ...still got the scars to prove or was that the diss pack ::)
-
Whats this shuttle is this instead of a car ;D
-
Not easy but can be done :y
-
From memory its best to remove the scuttle when replacing the diss pack but as I havent only done the leads on their own wasn,t sure if it was possible.
Can expact fun and games with 2/4/6 set as closest to the head and again from memory #4 is only doable by "feel" anyway so plasters at the ready. ;D
-
No need to remove scuttle, easy enough with plenum off.
As I said before, I hardly ever remove the scuttle for any jobs (including heads!)

Scuttleitis .... "fear of forthcoming leaks" ;D

To true.EMD. ;) :)
Its only taken me 7 years to get the bl***dy thing watertight so thats not getting touched how ever many plasters I need ;D ;D ;D...just needed to know if it could be done :y

Do not disturb and it does not leak....simples!

Sure i would take plenum off if i ever did it again :) And that cable tray >:( Crypton factor trying to get all the wires back in ;D Very do-able after a few times
-
Everything is easier the second time around. ;D..had I known issues with sealing the scuttle I would never of removed it the first time I did a maintenance job on the Omega back in 2007...as advised I tend to leave it well alone now. ;)
It,s just I was unsure if there was adequate space to get at the 2/4/6 plug leads on the disspack..but thanks guys for reassurance and I will have a go this weekend......weather permitting :y
