Thanks to all those who answered my previous post concerning exhaust drone, after spending a fortune on a genuine GM exhaust the persistant resonant drone was cured by fitting a new nearside rear wheel bearing. It became apparent when doing left hand turns which sort of unloaded the bearing, it was like flicking a switch and the noise just disappeared.
On the subject of exhaust systems, those cheap ones from ebay really are rubbish, don't buy one unless you've got access to a welder as you have to cut and re-weld them to make them fit.

That's a bit of a sweeping statement matey, I bought mine from Poland off e-gay over 3 years ago and it fitted perfectly except for the tailpipe being a few inches short due to the extra depth of the Facelift bumper (easily sorted with a chrome extender (from e-gay! :D) and it still looks as new as the day it was fitted ???

Likewise bought and fitted 2 Eternal systems off ebay - no probs fitting at all, and good quality :y
Maybe you bought a saloon one for your Estate ::)

Eternal now on 3 of ours, very happy with one on my 2.2. Not far off genuine sound wise. Some eBay cheapie ones are very good! :)

I also got one from poland on ebay for my 2000 2.2 auto estate .......... agree that build quality and material quality looks good, the tail pipe on mine was also was a little short (also the facelift model), also sounds a bit louder than the original GM exhaust but I'm putting that down to the short tail pipe creating a little bit of echo under the car .... I have not yet fitted a tail pipe trim ..
As it happens I also have an "under the car drone" from the rear at certain speeds and was also putting that down to air resonance caused by the short exhaust ................ maybe I need to check the rear wheel bearings ???
Anyone got a how to replace the rear wheel bearings on a 2000 estate guide with pictures ????

Try an extension pipe on your exhaust first. If exhaust a touch short rear valance acts as a "sound box" ;)

Trouble is some egay sellers will just source from cheapest supplier. Hence I stick to Eternal. Yeah, you may be able to save a tenner, but is it worth the risk?
