Hi! Thinking about buying 2.2 diesel Are they any good? What sort of mpg to they give? Any problems I need to be aware of? Thanks.

Not as smooth as the BMW 2.5TD which is a 6 pot, but the 2.2 does produce more torque.
Given regular TLC, capable of starship mileage

had mine just over a year not to many problems had a few niggles but bought the wrong car not the wrong model. Looking at a buying another 2.2 this weekend .Mpg not bad for a large car around town I get approx. 30 mpg and on a run approx. 43 but I do have a lead boot.On the plus side I find it pretty smooth and with the 2.2 you don't have to keep changing down a gear .not the fastest on the road but will hold its own . mine not being the best example around still seems to start better than the other diesels down our road and there are a few around sure there will be people on here with better import than me but hopefully every little bit of info helps .

Excellent car. Common problems are split vacuum pipes causing random bad running problems, dirty/coked up inlet manifold and egr valve causing flat spots around 2000 rpm, and leak back pipes allowing air into the fuel system causing poor starting from cold. Mine gives 32 round town and 47 on a run. Regular oil and filter changes are a must.
