Hopefully putting in the AR35 box this w/e which I have had for at least 3 years. Then the full fat chip.

A thought occurred this AM, (I have about 1 a day). What difference will the Sport mode make when the full fat chip is fitted? :-\

If you have the latest gearbox ECU, don't need sport. Can't remember if I used sport mode much on my old tractor...  ...used to lock it in 3rd a fair bit to stop the 3rd/4th constant hunt at around 50mph.

I am a bit confused about this. Should I be fitting a different ECU to the new gearbox before fitting it this weekend? If so which one will I need?:-\ :-\ :-\

I suppose it depends on what type of g/box ECU you have fitted to begin with, I believe the later TD's ECU is totally different to the early ones connection & size wise, Ive got a suspicion that the later ones can be loaded with the later g/box software whereas the earlier ones cant, Or thats what TB said to me anyhow ::). Just been thinking further & I do remember that the G/box ecu has to be the same year/number as your original anyway, So if you are lucky enough to have a later type then just get the software updated. :y

Nothing to worry about Shack.

If yours is a 1998 or later car, it can be flashed up to v9. Whether or not its worthwhile on a tractor, not sure - mine did about 50 miles before I flashed it, so really can't remember how bad it was...  ...bad enough to annoy me enough to do it, clearly, but still wasn't like a v6 gearbox for smoothness

The one going on was refurbished in 2005, and has only done about 10,000 miles since. My car is a 99 MFL TD. :y

Yup, fear not, slap the new box in.

You can upgrade the TCM firmware, but as previously said, not sure its worth it.
