Title: alloy wheel colour question
Post by: mcd840 on 03 April 2013, 21:32:39
im getting my vec cdx wheels painted but want an honest opinion on this, i was just going to get them sprayed silver untill i spotted a nice grey anthracite colour and quite fancy it, the colour of the car is petrol blue, do you think the anthracite would look the part on this colour of vec or would it look bad?

thanks

everyone has a different taste..  but personally I never like dark color wheels .. and imo they are never suitable for dark color cars.. as the tyres are black there must be some contrast..

I'll try to give a simple mixture .. try this ratio

%50 metallic silver( medium sized metals -it has has small and bigger) + %15 pearl white + %35 directional effect white (standox)
and ( 0.5-1 gr of blue or 0.5 - 1 gr of black assuming 500-600 grs of paint)

ps: also you can use blue and black at the same time and increase them a bit more.. but go up in 0.5 increments and mix it very good
(check under sun light)

pps: you can also use scratch resistant laquer (not cheap)

silver its going to be, i tried to get new griffin badges for the centre caps as theyl prob need to get done aswell to match the alloy but vx tell me you need to buy the whole centre cap with the badge in place even though the griffin badge itself when removed from the centre cap has its own part number.
