Any one know the part number for the 2 x torx bolts on the Thermostat housing on a 2001, 2.2 petrol
-
Anyone help. Vx dealer thick as sh** or can't be bothered.
-
Be careful .. the thermostat design changed and the flange got smaller, so new shorter bolts needed with the new housing .. if you use the original bolts they "bottom" and will either not tighten or crack the head - depending how much OOMPH you apply ... :(
PM to AndyC might be the safest way ...
(all the above applies to the 3.2 ... perhaps the 2.2 is different ?? )
-
I swear on my life someone posted pretty much the same question about a week ago and AndyC came on and confirmed exactly what you say Entwood...... gone back but can't find the thread :'(
-
Yep, got my set from AndyC and he very helpfully included all variants of the bits and pieces so I wouldn't be stuck. :y
IIRC there are a couple of variations of the O ring that seals the thermostat housing to the block too.
But.. if the one you're being supplied with has the thinner housing, the worst case is that you need to shorten the bolts a little.. assuming it comes with the correct O ring.
-
When I replaced my stat last year I was supplied with exact same thickness housing as I had removed.
The black "0" ring did look slightly odd and hardly seemed to compress into the recees on the housing when tried so I ran a small bead of oil cooler sealant around the edge to be sure of a good tight seal.
20k later and not a sign of any leaks so as its a job you don,t want to do twice that would be my best advise.

Cheers lads. When trying to undo the torx bolts the head on one just rounded off. The Vx dealer is no help at all. Tried last week to use the master fit club voucher last week but the 2 Vx dealers told me i can only use it for servicing. Even showing them the letter they told me it's for servicing only not parts.

Frosts :-X
Any reason not to reuse the bolts?
I appreciate that you have a rounded off one, but asking for future reference :y
