Here is my ex Thames Valley Police 3.2 with a fresh MOT, last MOT expired in 2009 and has only covered 6000 miles since being decommissioned in 2007. My Elite is my everyday hack! 8)

Excellent, if you ever get stuck for anything drop me a PM.

Just in-case anyone was wondering how I intend to use OOX on a public road, the magnetic 'Not in Service' signs were initially intended for the front doors, but due to the battenburg they would not adhere, so used them on the bonnet.
Now awaiting for new sings for the inner rear side windows. Please no rude comments about the bonnet bar! ::)

Nice! I have OY53 URM!! 8)
How do you get on with the battenburg? Would you still need the 'Out Of Service' & 'Not in Use' magnetic signs if there were no 'Police' wordings on the car at all and just Battenburg? Only reason i ask is because i have all the blues'n'twos installed on my car (apart from the roof light bar) and would like to add the battenburg and then maybe just use some magnetic 'Police' signage for the shows i attend.
Where did you obtain your battenburg?
I must have a different board in my boot as its much neater and all on one sheet of wood - That wasn't a backhanded dig by the way ;) :D
-
Being a member of PVEC or PCUK helps with explaining it away at the roadside. Also need to have written permission, ideally from your local constabulary to order the battenburg kits... the firms simply won't supply it without.
It goes without saying that any blue or red lights (flashing or otherwise)/headlight flashers/sirens must be rendered inoperable whilst the car is on the road. This must be by removing the power connection outside of the passenger compartment. A switch in the glove box simply won't cut it...
Also any Police wording, web addresses, force crests must all be covered up when on the road along with signs in the rear window and on the drivers side saying 'Not in service'. The light bar must be covered unless the lenses are clear, and must be inoperable.
You also have to keep a log of every mile the car covers, with times/dates/reason for journey/where from and to/mileage in and out.
Worth noting that force crests are copywrited too, so you would need the relevant permission to obtain/use any :y
-
Cheers Al, that gives me food for thought.
All my installed equipment is hard wired via a hidden kill switch - which the local traffic couldn't even find and the control pad socket is also well hidden with both the electrical feed key and the control pad aren't kept in the car 8)
Thanks again :y

Regarding the 'Out of Service' signs, it's just me being over cautious being marked up in Battenburg! I have a strict code of conduct to follow which is outlined by the Association of Chief Police Officers and I carry a letter of endorsement signed by it's Chief Constable, I have also informed the Chief Constable of Lincolnshire and Thames Valley of it's exsistance. It also pays to be a member of either PVEC or PCUK.
The rear board is done for a reason, the equipment fitted by Thames Valley Police was on various locations in the back of the estate, but my reason fitting one board was so that I can fit a dog cage in the back which allows us as a family to go to various shows up and down the country, and adapt to running a preserved Police can in today's world. All Police equipment has to be isolated as can be seen by the red switch on the rear board.
So Paul, I can supply info on the Battenburg, and if you wish to send me a PM I will supply my contact details. :y
Your car sounds interesting, any photo's! ::)
-
Sorry Al, I was compiling my last post whilst you made your post! I did not mean to be repetitive! ;)
-
Don't be daft :y
Given the implications, alot of it is best repeated :y

Thanks Mr M - I'll get a PM over to you shortly :y Is there a template for these letters that need to be sent to the various Police forces?
As for photos, I have a thread in the Gallery ;)
