Hi guy's, my mv6 had cold weather syndrome where battery sounds flat, so i put new one on today and it will not turn over, starter was fine as i dont even get a clicking noise from it. Everythings works apart from it turning over. Please help

as per my reply in gen. chat....
hi ron, can i just clarify.... you changed the battery cos it sounded lazy..... now you've replaced the battery it doesn't even turn over at all as in when you turn the key its totally dead? :)

most likely a bad connection at one of the terminals that would let low current through to run mosts things except starter. Does everything else work when headlights and heated rear window are on? Alternatively could be dislodged earth lead connection. Lastly could be a duff new battery try putting the old one back in.

Easy to say in hindsight but . . always best to have the old battery tested first :-\ . .
could be any number of other things .
A new battery is unlikely to be duff . . . but not unheard of .
As said in other posts . . . battery connections would be first check

It`s this pigging weather, my batt was slow turning over this morning.
Short journey to work & 10 hours later it`s turning over even slower.
Whipped the bugger out for a slow trickle over night.
Just a thought on rons car is the immobilser getting in the way?

sounds like earth problem check all the connections espically the earth to chassis straps, the one underneath that goes between the chassis rail and block.

I'm sure the engine still turns over if immobiliser is operating . . .it just wont start :-\ :-\ :-\
Also check nothing has been loosened in the triangle shaped fuse/relay box on top of the battery while you were changing it

If the car starter doesn't even turn but everything else has power then, assuming the car is auto, is the selector in park or neutral?
