This (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Vauxhall-Omega-V6-Cam-Belt-Water-Pump-Replacement-DVD_W0QQitemZ130221830798QQihZ003QQcategoryZ10404QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem) you mean.
OOO referring to MDTM as merely a mechanic, should be good for a post count cull when he sees that. ;D
-
That is just NOT right >:( :( Can't the Admins do something :-/
-
With the name 'hotcakes' it must be a female member, or perhaps Loo-Knee. ;D ;D ;D
If I knew where Stratford on Avon was I would be checking the map. :y

Whoever it is, has recently sold their Omega on 13th April:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=130211845072
At the moment I reserve judgement, BUT IF (and only if) this profit is not going to the forum, then I am disgusted.
-
Thats a bit naughty i think :-/

Well who ever it was sold a Silver, W plate, 3.0 Elite back in early April
-
what we dont need is someone buying it , copying it and making a profit off of someone elses hard work, i know it happens all the time but OOF is run by enthusiasts not profiteers
-
Look at the high bidder. ::)
Easy way to find out who it is ;)

Dont show who the highest bidder is ??
-
tbh i don't really see a problem here, he has sold his Omega, and like spare parts, he does not need it anymore.
Bidding started at 0.99
Its not as if he is selling the dvd £9.99 buy it now.

Me!
I dunno how to change a cambelt, so I better get this blokes unique DVD and learn ::)
;)

Half and half see your point tunnie - but still don't feel comfortable with it :-/

and it could potentially bring new members to the forum with the free advertising on the disc
-
As long as it's a bought and paid for forum copy and not a pirate, then I can't see the problem. The forum has had it's slice of the profit and it now belongs to the seller to pass on as he sees fit.
I sell cosmetics at knock down prices and know full well that other eBayers sell them on at a higher price -- as long as I get what I wanted for them I am not concerned.
And, as mentioned above, the publicity can't do any harm at all.

We seem to do OK on word of mouth - not sure we need ebay?
-
I recognise that number plate from somewhere. :-/
What we don't want is someone knocking out copies of the DVD on ebay, however.
Despite presumably being a member here he still thinks the cam belt interval is 80k / 8 years. :o
Kevin
-
Hmmmm, not sure it should be re-sold on eBay, just hope it doesn't end up getting duplicated and sold multiple times. >:(

Kev - re the number plate.
My star silver facelift was a W*** ONV - but different to that one. Maybe that's what you're thinking?

Very True ----- I assume the artwork is correct. If this person was knocking out copies I would have imagined he would have designed his own artwork, not having access to the original art folders. So, correct artwork would indicate an authentic disc, bought from the forum.

Yes, I'm sure that one probably is original, but who knows what the purchaser will do with it?

Maybe the artwork is on the original ad but the copies go out via blank TDK Cds?
Ultimately, (and this may have happened) It would only be morally right to request Mark's permission before putting this on ebay -
If this didn't happen - it's unethical, regardless of whether it's legal or not.
-
Well the only way to find out if it's going to be a copy or not is for someone to buy it.... as long as we don't all bid against each other!!!!!
I don't recall any members from Stratford and it's only about 10 miles from me......

'fraid I agree 100% with tunnie - look on the positive side, its proving its got great value.

I still maintain that if an unethical seller got hold of it then it could ruin the potential to make something towards the forum running costs.
Once something gets on ebay en-masse, everyone generally starts selling it for 1p a go...
-
Yes I agree with James on this one.
-
Now we are facing the simple realities of the potential of pirating of our Intellectual Property.
Piracy is a bugger ain't it?
:-X

just like TIS - hundeds on there ;)
-
the 3 litre elite he has sold isnt a vauxhall factory vehicle as it would be on London *LC plates or Chester plates *NV is northampton as my ex police veccy was P*** ONV and the cracked spring bushes at that mileage would lead me to believe its an Ex Northampton response unit like my veccy was
my mv6 has done 162k (Motorway Miles) and is on its original shocks springs and bushes and they are all sound
springs crackin and naffed bushes at 59k sounds like its been going over speed bumps in persuit!
-
its not good to have this on ebay it will get copied and resold.
some one could make a new ebay account and bid 1million then it wont sell, iwonder if some one will done that ;) ;) ;)
-
I intend to win the auction to
A) See if I recieve a blaggered disk
B) Stop some other beggar from selling it on at a loss to the forum.

Will just be re advertised then.... Best to make sure it's bid on sensibly by James or someone else and try and get it back within the forum... hopefully without it being copied beforehand
-
good idea :y
-
I'll win it. I've lost my copy anyway :y
-
can you make me a copy when you win it ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D i no we can sell it and make money ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Don't see this as an issue - if its a kosher copy the seller paid oof. If he doesn't want it any more its his to dispose of as he wants. Do we not sell on old cds or dvds on the basis that someone may clone them?
Do we not sell cars or car parts or any other items when no longer needed? Where does this stop?
:-?

Was that the version with the inbuilt virus ;)

Only a newbie but will chip in and say I have to agree. It's not the selling it on eBay that is the issue but the possibility that there will be endless copies being sold.
Have to hold my hand up to having bought a 'full' Workshop manual on DVD for an old Rover but that was to pull it apart and use it to make a tadpole trike. Needed details which just weren't available any other way and Rover had just gone to the wall. Pirating what has put together by enthusiasts to help other enthusiasts in the hope of making a few quid is pretty desperate and hopefully anyone who is looking for info will see enough in the ad to come to the Forum.
Anyone thought of asking a question which would be visible on the auction to 'accidentally' suggest it has some errors which could cause a problem with re-assembly?

Might work by putting buyers off -- but will also put the forum, which is clearly identifiable, in a bad light. Errors ??? HERE ???? :o :o

i think i have to agree with james here, if it does get copied then everybody is just going to buy it off ebay >:(

Hi,
The description by the seller in the diatribe of models covered is not strictly correct.
My very legal obtained DVD does not cover the variations for the 2.6 or the 3.2 But then the DVD does not say it covers these variations, it has been added by the seller, and is an incorrect description.
This is not to criticise the DVD, I would never have had the courage to change my cambelt without first watching it.
Although it may be legal to do it, I think it is wrong for it to be sold on E Bay. This DVD was produced by a member for the benefit of OOF members, as a service, and should not be exploited in this way.
Roger
-
I strongly disagree with this. Full stop.
There is an option via ebay to complain about various methods of theft including intellectual rights.
-
I could do with a 2.6 needing a cambelt change to do an addition to the DVD .......
