Hi Ron

Is this starter to be replaced  issue a follow on from your "Battery Change " thread ?

If so do you know for sure that it is  the starter that is at fault?

Omega starters are usually pretty robust & don't fail very often at all IMO

There did not seem to be any outcome on your "battery Change " thread . . .

The guys on here will be of the utmost help to you  . . . but we need feedback from you regarding the problem .

That thread just seemed to end with no furthur response from you  :-\ :-\

Also it would help if you update your profile so that oofers know exactly which model & year you have . :y

Quite likely that someone on here would assist you if you added your location as well  :y

In your "profile" where you`ve added the car you own, add your location also

The forum is easy to use , the experts on here can sort almost anything Omega  IMO, but they need info from you to be able to diagnose properly  & then  hopefully cure the problem  :y

OK lets start from the top  . . .    First question  . . Manual or auto box ?

If auto  . . check that the selector is in P or N      Car will only turn over to start  in those 2 positions but don't think you get a "click" if it is in one of the other positions  :-\

The original problem was that car had symptoms of a low  battery but had been ok up until that point ?

You then fitted a new battery & would not turn over at all .And  now  "its just clicking , not all the time though"

So sometimes it is doing nothing at all ?

Do you mean that you are getting a clicking  coming from the starter motor ?

And are absolutley sure it is the starter motor clicking ?

Reply to these questions & we can go on from there ?

Other more experienced members should now tag onto this thread & it should be able to get sorted  :y :y

If the clicking is coming from the starter motor, thats likely to be the solenoid not clicking over fully.  Check battery connections, engine earth strap before condemming starter motor ;)

Thanx guy's. But it did not click until i hit the solenoid slightly due to access problembs and i have no ramps to lie underneath. If it is clicking is my starter ok? Or do i need a car sparky? What shall i do?

Double check engine/starter earthing

Also put your location in your profile ( just the town )

you never know someone from here may be right local to you & may assist   ;)
