Title: Silver Bullet MPG
Post by: TheBoy on 12 April 2013, 08:45:52
I don't believe it. Mrs TB has demolished my LPG MPG record on the bullet.  23.48mpg, using the same pump to fill. 260 miles, 50l

Grrrr.

The best I managed was 22.something going to Mancs and back, in works time, so at the speed limit.

How does she do it?

Given the lpg was 73.9p and diesel was virtually double at 147.9p, that makes it equivilent to around mid 40s compared to a diesel, from a 3.0l auto.

With her increased commute, I was toying with an old banger diesel for her commuting, but it clearly simply isn't worth it....

Factor in the potential costs involved with older, worn out diseasal parts and the numbers simply fall aparrt :-\

Very good effort on Mrs TBs part :y

My old diesel banger returns equivalent to over 100mpg (40mpg @ 50ppl) and the only part which has needed replacing in the last year has been the alternator. It did need some serious welding for the MOT though. ;)

Suspect not so much heavy braking, then heavy on the go pedal.  that's kinda mpg I would expect from the 3.2 when it's lpg'd

Smoothness is key  :)

That's better than I get on a run on petrol ;D The M3 is now my frugal car - 28mpg on the run between home & Solihull..

My best ever on LPG is 26.28 mpg :) .. long run to Bodmin and back as far as Highbridge on a tank :) 95% motorway/dual carriage way and sat at 75 most of the time :)

I got 15-17mpg on the trip down to Cornwall, and running about down there. For the trip there and back, pikey box on the roof. Obviously removed when down there.

Don't think I was "sat at 75mph most of the time" though.

I think you'll struggle to get that with a Stag kit. Entwoods BRC is likely to be a shade more sophisticated and calibrated. But then he paid a lot more.

Although, if you have a perfect run at 75mph, who knows.  Your M40 run will get the MPG down simply by going through the Chilterns, and up and down Chickenshit Canyon.
