Title: Thermostat change on 2ltr Ecotech

Hi folks, I've just changed the 'stat on my car as it was running a bit on the cool side. Haven't road tested it yet so I'm not sure if it has helped or not! The point of the post is this. The Haynes book says that the 'stat is integral with the alloy housing and needs to be changed as a unit. Quinton Hazel do a replacement thermostat without the housing at a fraction of the cost and it's a doddle to fit. You just press the stat into the housing with a cardboard tube supplied in the new kit, turn it slightly and out it comes  :) The new one goes in just as easily.
I'm not sure if it's the same set up on the bigger engines but worth checking anyway.

Its the same insert on the V6 units to.....if the housing doesn't break!

Aahhh the fun of a broken thermstat housing on a V6.... when it is minus 2 and dark!....  >:(

Next time I buy a house with a garage big enough to easily fit an Omega and a heater!!!

I'm lucky that way, nice big garage to work in  :) I can store an Imp and a "normal" car in it but the Omega almost fills the bloody thing on it's own  ;D

Ahh! but like me you'd only fill the garage with other sh1te. Mines 30' long but I still can't get my car in!  :'(

I've got a lovely double garage plus workshop, trouble is it's full of kids toys, 3 lawnmowers plus the omega only just fits through the poxy doorway. No wonder all my neighbourghs have fitted double width doors with electric control.  >:(
