i,m this has been asked many times but wot sort of mpg should i be getting from my n reg 2.5td auto estate iv just had it on the road a few weeks but not had a chance to give it a run yet are the compters on these accurate

Depends what type of driving you do, being an auto its going to struggle in town. Mid 20's I would think, mid 30's on a run.
-
Yeah it's only showing 20/22 round the doors :'( looks like I might have to keep it as my weekend car and buy a cheap runabout

Had both Auro and Manual 2.5 TDs, both Estates full off tools, crap etc, in and out of London, Auto would average 27 and Manual 35 mpg, on a run both very simular A 35 to 40, M 37 to 42 mpg.

That's about right ... the TD autos are utterly disappointing.
May as well opt for a V6 ... and enjoy the performance! ;)
Confirmed fuel consumption figures for our manual-boxed TD Estate are:
Round the doors: 33
Spirited cross-country driving: 39.9 (calculated by Shackeng)
Sustained motorway cruising at 70/75 mph: 44

I did really buy it for weekend camping trips and getting out and about so I'll be happy if I get 35+ on a run :)

Unchipped, my 2.5TD auto saloon managed about 29mpg as an average, rising to high 30s on a sustained motorway cruise.
Chipped (have to ignore MID, as it talks rubbish when chipped), 32mpg average, just touching 40mpg on a sustained cruise.
In both cases, not driven particularly economically to get the average mpg.
Sub 60mph speeds really kill the mpg on the 2.5TD autos. Absolutely muller it.
