Title: Windscreen Washers.
Post by: Drewomega on 14 April 2013, 17:35:59
Hi guys,
My windscreen washers are not working. When I put the lights on, the headlight washers work ok, so it is not the pump that is at fault. Is there a filter between the pump and the windscreen jets? the jets themselves seem clear.
Thanks.  :y

Headlight pump is separate, (marked red in centre of pic). Filter for windscreen pump (right of pic) accessible when pump removed from reservoir

Can you hear the pump when you operate it? As Rob implies, the filter get full of gunge/bacteria if the bottle hasn't had a decent screen wash in there, so if you can hear it & you're getting nothing out of the jets, it can be that the pump can't suck hard enough enough against the gunge.  :y :y

there's a guide in the maintenance section  ;)

:y While you've got the pump out, shove a hose pipe in there & give it all a good flush out.  ;) ;)

Ok! The pump and filter looks like SWMBO'S Corsa in Mallorca, which I have cleaned in the past. I assume that most of GM's electrical parts are interchangeable albeit different prices.
Thanks Guys!!  :y :y

The only difference to note is that the Corsa will have two outlets .... front & rear screen - it spins one way or the other depending on which screen is being washed ..... your saloon obviously only needs a single outlet pump.

If you can hear your pump, I'd imagine it just needs cleaning out.  :y :y

Ah yes the Corsa does have two outlets Andy. But basically the filter I would imagine is basically the same.
Cheers mate!  :y :y
