Title: Irmscher 3.2 Estate - Good breaker, or fixer?
Post by: joshwyatt on 24 April 2013, 18:32:55
http://www.copart.co.uk/c2/homeSearch.html?_eventId=getLot&execution=e7s1&lotId=12782613&returnPage=SEARCH_RESULTS

I think the rear bumper would take some skilled crafting to repair, but could be a good cheap Omega?

Ripe for breaking that!  :)

Get more money selling off Irmscher bits, then flog it as standard.

Yep Josh rear end is repairable with quite a bit of effort and skill.  Looks a nice motor though - you thinking of bidding on it then? :)

I won't buy it to keep or sell, but I do have a Copart account...if anyone's interested and doesn't have one, I'm happy to buy it for them etc.
I don't have the time to really try and repair this, and unfortunately I'm really not keen on the Irmscher stuff...but I've only seen 3 or 4 full Irmscher estates in the past few years.

Shame it isnt at the colchester depot. Its a bit far to drag on an A frame, and I would imagine delivery from chester would cost lots of £££. :-\

Albs delivery is normally around £1 per mile one way, so not too extreme.

the one and only time i purchased from copart was a complete disaster, between the pictures being taken and its delivery to me,it was very obvious that it had been used in a demolition derby  >:( complete waste of time

Breaker or fixer Pete?

The damage to the rear bumper is obvious but the front is damaged in a couple of places and the exhaust is a bit off cock on the passenger side but that could be the hangers.

If I manage to buy it I would break it but SWMBO loves silver Omegas so if she see's it, it might be a different story ::)

I got the train down to Wiltshire to collect our desmond diesel and I drove it home. I must admit I was a bit worried when it was delivered to me in the Copart yard by a fork lift truck with huge forks, the forks were put under the car from the front but luckily it needed a new front bumper anyway. I suspect the damage to the front bumper on the one in Chester was caused the same way >:(

Bloody hell that's a good price  :o :o Seems like 3.2s are about the only Omegas making decent money.

Copart can be quite unusual to follow and work out sometimes. The VB2 auction system does work fairly well. In the end, it was sold for £1050. I phoned the branch just after to enquire, and an offer had been made to 'sell all the way' for £1050, as the auction hadn't acheived the correct amount. I believe it's destined for foreign shores.
The GlS and CD models etc do sell very cheaply, but it does appear that MV6's and Elite's command a premium...even the V6 Specials can sell for strong money  :-\

I was the highest bidder through VB2 on an 03 Range Rover at £5,300 which hadn't reached the 'selling all the way' point. By the time I enquired, it had sold for £6,900. It is something I've come across more recently.

Lots of the salvage auctions that are on line now are bids via proxy bidders in russia and latvia, they then get collected by romianian or Bulgarian trucks with stillages in the tilt and load 6/7 cars on..
Also a few friends have stopped buying salvage as some pri es are getting near retail money.
£1075 for a spanked 3.2 then the cost of repair.. :o

And my insurance renewal came through . so I did the on-line comparisons as you do ..and the "market value" according to them is £750 !!!  Makes no sense at all .. :(

A bloke at the place I work asked if I won it and I told him what had happened so he's going to ask his mates son who works there if he can look into it. Does seem a bit daft having an online auction that doesn't work :-\
