As per title fellas.
Any thoughts or experiences on using this engine gearbox combo in a FL estate as a tow car. Car will be used to tow a 1250Kg single axle pikey wagon. I know the gearbox won't appreciate a chip upgrade for extra horses, so is the 128 odd Bhp with an auto up to the job?
Any advice appreciated :y

I've only ever towed with my 3.0 V6 Omega, but would have thought that the S6 diseasal lump would be more than OK to tow a caravan of that weight. Don't forget that it's torque that's used for towing, not bhp :y :y

Auto-boxed TDs are ... IMHO ... sluggards at best, with disappointing fuel consumption and performance generally. >:(
For hauling a caravan with a TD; (and your quoted figure's well within any Omega's capabilities), really the only way to go is a manual-boxed 'chipped' jobbie :y
Even then, that lump has to be kept 'on song' - trust me! ;)
Fuel consumption (whilst towing) varies between 23 and 27 mpg - chipped or un-chipped - so quite realistic! 8)

Our previous outfit:
'Plus 5' chip upped the lump to (nominally) 150 horses, and towed well.

Present outfit:
Slightly heavier 'van (1463 kgs MTPLM) and un-chipped TD. Tows ... OK.
HTSME! ;)

Seth, many thanks for the comprehensive reply fella. Will take your advice and aim for a manual.......if one ever pops up. That or a 2.6/3.0/3.2.
Just saw this on the bay and whilst a bit steep looked a nice car if the price came down. Will leave it tho.......

Cheers again :y :y

Not had a problem with mine. Had a car trailer with a stripped out Senny on it and the whole thing went on to the weigh bridge at 4,250kg. I have found it slow to get the turbo to spool up with or without a trailer/caravan.
