Post by: Marie on 14 May 2008, 19:55:11
well i would just like to appologise to those who have tried to contact me and i have failed to reply.

I havent been about due to personal reasons. My mother inlaw has just found out she has cancer of the bowl and it might have spreed to the lungs. So that with work and hubby away looking after shane i have had my hands full.

Once all is sorted ill be back for some good old OOF banter but at present im just going to pop in and out once in a while.

( Kevin and Pat the plans for my gearbox are still a go! nothing has changed on this front. ill give you a bell nearer the time.)

Hi Marie, so sorry to hear your news I wondered where you were.
My mum had the big C 25 years ago in a very personal place and had to have major major surgery to get rid of it (luckily it was the slow growing type). We also lost our much loved Dad /Grandad / great Grandad to the big C 5years ago aged 94 years, and to cap it all off we found out a couple of months ago that at the age of 93 Mum's cancer has returned and there is nothing that can be done.
The only thing I can say by way of advice is ,try and keep life as near as possible to normal ,stay positive, try and stay cheerful ( Hard I know),.
If you find a need to talk or your in laws need help contact the Eleanor Foundation they helped with our Dad and are helping with Mum they are fantastic people.

Sorry to hear your news, Marie.  The 'C' thing catches loads of folks...  her mum had a mastectomy almost 30 years ago...  She herself had a lumpectomy for BC in 2005 as well as chemo etc etc etc and things were looking good.  Until she discovered another lump this past week or so, now awaiting a visit back to the consultant to investigate.    :(

Dont despair, loads of good folks out there to help and assist and kiss it better where they can....   :-*

My Mum had a tumor removed from her bowel last year. She has recovered very very well and it seems to be OK now. She is 78 .

Thinking of you .

Hi Marie,
so sorry to hear your news, my sister in law has the cancer in the lung, and she starts chemo this week, plus we lost Dad to cancer almost 1 year ago, so I have some idea what you're going through. All you can do is be strong for the ones around you especially the little ones!
Be strong gal, I know it's easier said than done, but you will get through this. One thing that came out with Dad's demise is that it pulled all the family together and a lot of differences were settled.
With you in thought,
lots of love
Simon.

Marie, our thoughts are with you.

There are so many different ways that Cancer can be treated these days and the sucsess rate is growing year on year as well.

I know people knock the NHS but having been there when my mum was being treated i would say this is one area where they do see to excel, i really hope she pulls through.

Remember we are here if you need to rant/vent or just talk, don't be a stranger  :y
