Title: torquing new idler arm
Post by: terry paget on 30 April 2013, 22:12:17
I have just read the idler arm removing and fitting guide. When fitting a new steering idler arm, should I centre the steering before tightening the bush nut to 60nM, in similar way to tightening wishbone horizontal nut when car back on its wheels?

It makes no difference whatsoever. Just tighten it to the appropriate setting.

Thanks Nick W. The comment 'all the motion takes place in the bush'  made me wonder whether it might last longer if flexing in both directions.
