Title: coolent level warning and windscreen wash warning
Post by: snowball on 02 May 2013, 14:59:59
Hi
I have a vauxhall omega - 2003 - last week the coolent level warning came on same time as windscreen wash warning.
filled up the windscreen wash and still showing me the check sign and yet is full to the top
Same with the coolent level checked and it is on the line - disconnected the sensor from the coolent holder and it still shows check coolent level even though it was disconnected
Any ideas on what the problems may be

Sounds like an issue with the display unit :-\

Any other check warnings?

Has the instrument cluster be removed recently, might be as simple as a loose plug :-\

That's normal :y

Might be coincidence that both sensors have failed together :-\ the wiring runs in different directions for each sensor...

If you open the coolant cap and look in, there should be a golf ball sized float directly under the cap. It should pop straight back up if you push it down :y

For the washer sensor, it might be worth popping the switch out of the washer bottle and check that the float moves freely :y

Hi
I have opened the coolant bottle and the float is down at the bottom and doesnt spring up if you push it down
Re the windsceen wash - not sure where the float is - there is the tube where I pour in the windscreen wash where would the float be

I was shocked to hear the expansion tank cap doesn't come with it but for another £18 or so but the old one will do but how daft is that greedy GM   ::)
