Post by: ali.sharif on 03 May 2013, 16:34:11
Hi Freinds

i have a general question about TECH 2 GM

i have an Opel Omega MV6 Auto 1995 and i want to buy Tech 2 gm for this
but i figure out that tech 2 only works on car 1997 till Now

and also i fine GM MDI that could do the same tech 2 , even older

but do you know the tech 2 only work on 1997 and earlier? that mean no way to use that?

my main use of tech 2 for programming ecu and other thing , i want to know if the answer is no , and i cant use tech 2 , can i sue GM MDI ? and do all thing with that ?

thank you any way

Genuine TechII does everything `97 onwards.  It can also do diagnostics pre 1997 providing the same ECU was also used after `97.  So in relation to the Omega marque a genuine TechII can do all diagnostics with the exception of IR central locking, pre `96 2.0ltr and the U25DT.

Hello Ali. For your 1995 edition Omega, you can use a Tech1/a with a dedicated Omega B cartridge and an OBDII connector. This covers pretty much everything for your car. I have one and it does the trick on my 1997 Omega, although I have yet to plug it in to my 2004 facelift to see what, if anything, it covers on that. Hope that's of some help (Tech1's tend to be a lot cheaper than Tech2's  :y )

Incidentally, where are you based?
