Title: Headlight washer jets and HIDs
Post by: animal65 on 04 May 2013, 12:32:14
Car just failed the mot under the new rules for headlight washer.
one was inoperative and the other defective must mention one is missing all together been like that since i got the car 2 years ago. I am wondering if i can remove them completely and whether this would be legal.

mot station mentioned that if the car was fitted with HID as standard then they must have washer jets the mot guidelines don't specify what date these come into effect from any ideas

They are there for a reason  :y - The can degrade badly due to road muck, so its worth keeping them  :y

Most likely a blockage in the pipe or in the jet, visually check them  :y

I'll have a look and let you know - I know they're as rare as rocking horse poo, so I bought some when I saw some for sale.  Last one I bought was £15 off OOF.  Now got a f/l so no need for these now

They're ALL Omega Bs. Some are pre facelift, some are a 'mini facelift' ie they look the same as the preface lift but has some upgrades under the skin. Face lift cars are those from around 2000 that have the grille attached to the bonnet & have the same family look as all the other vauxhalls of the day.
Your S reg is NOT a facelift but could be either of the preface lift or mini face lift (Mini facelift have a hole in the headrests & audio controls on the steering wheel.

there's a guide here somewhere on the forum if you have a look  :y :y

jets are as rare as rocking horse dung, I've been messing trying to find them for ages, but got some now, new from vauxhall.

90509516 LH
90509518 RH

I was lucky and found the RH on car parts conexxion for £13.50, LH I got through Autovaux for £45 inc VAT.

They have to be ordered in from Germany currently, as theres no stock whatsoever!

Website in Poland named Renimix, has loads and very cheap at £29!!!!!!

I bought the nozzles aswell that attach to the lights, didn't pay the £80 odd asking price from Vauxhall though, again through Autovaux at £40 each, all brand new parts in packaging.

Same goes for my Xenon headlights I bought recently at £140 a side!.

Always shop around, theres plenty of websites which offer obsolete vauxhall parts at cheap prices, just scan the internet.

Definately try Renimix, it'll come up straight away if you search in google "gm90509516".

Cheers

Dean

Visa say if the jets aren't fitted the garage can't test them so can't fail you for them
