Im interested in finding out what I can do to give the old girl a little extra oomph.
Havent beena member for long so haven't had the time to read all the forum postings, but did notice a listing about remapping gearbox ecu's wondered if this can give a boost?

Not a lot you can do with 3.2's sadly :(

I had a 3.2 special a couple of yrs ago and that was nippy, the TCU was wired to be off permenantly and she certainly took off with a screech..lol

TCU?
If it had a LSD fitted, they have a lower ratio. Aids 0-60 speed as I found out to my delight, but harm top end speed.

Can't see how having traction control disabled will aid 0-60 :-\

Theres a button to turn TC off and on whenever on V6 models can't see police having a different TC set up, Just chipped ECU and lighter and presumably manual more bite for quicker acceleration ???

Can't chip a 3.2, its a myth that plod ones have been, not seen any viable ECU flashes available, ones that are give 5% max.
Police Omegas are actually heavier, only mods are that they have a beefier alternator to deal with plod kit, heavy duty springs and sometimes a LSD. Loaded up with plod gear, they are not hugely fast due to the weight.
Without the junk on board, would go as well as standard MV6.

my mistake then, Just thought I've read on more than one occasion on OOF people mentioning ex-plod ecu's are in high demand. Most plod had 15"/16" wheels also which would have added to quicker 0-60 not much but every little helps as Tesco say ;D.

Seen air intake chips for Omegas on ebag, supposed to boost performance, anybody had any experience of these?

3.2 ecu is reprogrammable. Serek may have info about getting more grunt by this method. ;)

Do tell, only ones I've seen give very marginal improvements

what you can get depends on the upgrade budget.. and also your mechanic skills and experience..
you can polish the heads both inlet , exhaust ports, manifold, throttle etc.. and use bigger valves .. also you can get higher degree cams which must be custom built.. and re-map .. these will be relatively low cost.. and gains on a 3.2 will be worth but with the increased fuel consumption (assuming yours is manual).. (on an auto losses from the auto box is serious so converting to manual is #1 priority imo)
also you can have forced induction but this will require some serious budget.. which rare people prefer.. :-\

For certain applications the TC switch was bypassed, preventing it from being turned OFF ::)
Some cars used for accident investigation, had a switch fitted to disable the ABS for investigation purposes :y

Mine was ex Lancashire motorway pursuit car, only noticed the mod when fitting new interior and walnut trim probably seemed faster as i had 2.5 elite at the same time.
