And he didnt get ripped by the driver.......he asked how much when he phoned the taxi company........

Have they charged some sort of return fee, as there was no chance of a return passenger ??

I've had that done to me before .. :(

Charges should be regulated --- are Dover Council generous ? Wasn't a private hire car was it ? (Dunno if that makes a difference)

The unforeseen circumstances.......he was knocked over by automatic sliding doors that closed on him as he was passing thro them......cut his nose...and hurt his left arm.......and hes 83.......so he wasnt gonna be driving himself anywhere...........

Hmmm -- I am not one for spurious compensation cases -- but your dad might have a shot there to get some form of compensation from the occupier of the building where the doors are -- obviously they are malfunctioning

All automatic doors should comply with British Standards 7036 in order to prevent doors closing and trapping users. I knew my job would come in handy one day :y
