Title: I'm no mechanic but.......
Post by: Field Marshal Dr. Opti on 11 May 2013, 17:41:58

I'm proud of the work I did on Mrs Opti's beloved Corsa this afternoon. Without too many problems, I changed both the pads and discs, using genuine GM parts (£65)

Vauxhall wanted 90 minutes labour to do the job. That's £108 alone  :o :o :o

Pat on the back for Mr Opti I think, as I'm just about the most inept mechanic in the whole of the UK :y :y

Why? What was wrong with the old ones ;D

Seriously though, jobs (and savings like that) make for most satisfying afternoons  :y

The discs were flagged up as an advisory at the last M.O.T about eight or nine months ago.

They've only covered 22,000 miles from new and are original, so I'm not sure if I should be pleased or pissed really. Car is 53 plate.

The rumbling from the front under braking has finally disappeared, and the old girl now stops on a sixpence.  :y

The (to use TB's words) 'tards' gave me the wrong discs to begin with. :-\ :-\

Don't forget the obligatory H+S assessment prior to starting work, and the Working Time Directive enforced tearest period during the job ;D
