Title: Ar*ehole drivers!!!!!
Post by: horsecow on 12 May 2013, 19:55:06
So coming home last night, driving through traffic lights (definite green light for a decent while) when a muppet in a berlingo pulls clean out in front of me and I have to stand on brakes and swerve nearly hitting another car to not hit him. Obviously lay on the horn and the cheeky bugger kept going and gave me the finger!! Anyway accident avoided so I continued on to end up behind same motor on down the road and he's sitting at 45 on a clean, straight, traffic free road! Indicator on to overtake when he pulls out in front of me and refuses to let me pass. I can hear his engine screaming for mercy but he refuses to give in. Both motors on wrong side of road now and he stays there until a bend approaches so I cant get past. Now I'm definitely angry, but what else could I have done. Was tempted to ram the b**tard. Thankfully he turned off shortly after this and I was sorely tempted to follow him but that would've been very messy. What would you have done??

I would not have allowed myself to get that angry. Two wrongs don't make a right.

Yes, of course there are some dicks out there, but rise above it all and move one, it really is the best way.

Life is too short. Just let him go. If you had confronted him and he was drug fuelled and armed with a knife/gun what would you have done?

Initially he might have been embarassed at having made a mistake. Keep on at him and it becomes more serious.

When I was but a mere youth I would have "pit'd" him, but now I would just think "what a dickhead" and hope he only writes himself off in the future ;)

As said - lifes too short and don't drag yourself down to his level

Trouble is mate, IME, however fast you drive there is always someone faster, and however good a driver you are, there is always someone better.

Came back along autobahn years ago driving a 3.0 lit Carlton, late at night flat out at 150mph, and a Porsche went by me as if I was standing still - estimated his speed around 190 - 200 mph!!

I guess thats possible but doesn't that make them an even bigger a**ehole for taking it out on someone who wasn't involved. I admit I was ragingfor the most of the way home but I still didn't take that out on anyone else.

Maybe he was rushing to a relative who has had an accident?
Maybe he stopped you from overtaking because he thought you may have slowed him down a few yards ahead?
Maybe he was pissed up and needed a beating?

Who knows?

But, nobody was hurt, your heart-rate has now settled and all is well in the world!  ;D

Fair point BM but why then drive at 45 on down the road  ???. As you say its over now but there should be some way to report something like this but then I guess it would just be one persons word against another, although I would have had a few witnesses to the initial incident

Well, I've had a great time in the kit car on the roads around you this weekend, despite the weather. (currently in Templepatrick, about to set off for the ferry.)

So, yes, we all get the odd idiot, but on the whole I think you're blessed with some rather nice roads. :y

Are you sure you were in Northern Ireland Kevin??? The roads over here are like country lanes most of the time and full of craters never mind potholes!!!  :o ;D

Could have been that it was a deliberate attempt to provoke you and luckily you resisted.
Know how you feel though. ;)

I guess thats very possible ronny, he did try his utmost best. Bar reversing into me he couldn't have done anything else.

Have noticed on the local news that in the last month or so a lot of accidents have happened where a car is driving along at night with the brake light bulbs removed and then suddenly stop for no reason leaving the car behind to rear end them as they can't see the brake lights. Apparently it has happened quite a few times and it seems to be all immigrants involved in the front car! Nasty ploy though eh?

"Crash for Cash" scam leading to a whip-lash injury compensation claim.

Surely though if the police are called and it turns out there were no brake light bulbs they would get nothing?  :o

They pay witnesses to lie and all sorts of stuff. Believe me, they don't do that just for fun, they make money out of it. It is only a legal requirement for police to be called if there is an injury, so police are NOT involved in the first instance then they get "witnesses" to verify everything and of course the rear lights work again.

This all the fault of the "have you been hurt in an accident" compensation leeches law firms

I live in North London, lots of drug dealers, gang members etc. Round here you calm down a lot because if you behave in a confrontational manner, you can end up getting stabbed or even shot  :-X  No I am NOT joking.

I would have had my passenger hang out the window with sunglasses holding a life size plastic AK-47 replica (gangsta style) and start shouting gun noises and watch them think "oh crap" panic and swerve into the ditch, pahahahaha!!!

I wish. Reality is swear a bit. Lots. Then as he turned off I would have angrily booted it from behind   :D into the way of the next oncoming car, to get beeped at, continuing the cycle, D'oh!!!!

Hi. Being a Tesco (drive within the law types) drive , this is the norm for me. Just ignore the T*ats. i have gotten used to then over the years. Not worth the hassle. Due to cars getting safer this prob has gotten alot worse. They seem to rely on the safety of their car more than thinking what they are doing........ It's the future.....
