I do like the dash, it now looks retro even though its digital :-)
-
If I had 2 grand spare..... :(
Its not that far ffrom me either.
-
I wonder what the rear arches are like :-\ no mention of them or a photo of the area.
Generally a nice car, a bit grubby under the bonnet though ;)
The digital dash would have been an option on a K reg :y
Not sure whether its worth £2k :-\ :-\
-
The price would difinitely need to be dependant on it being rust free. :y.....which is a very rare thing on a Senator. ;D

Indeed. At least the door stays stayed put though. ::)
-
only 10 mins away from me, if anyone want me to go and have look for them. Chris ;).

I do like that :y :y :y

Nearside arch looks rust free , was that CD changer in the boot standard fitment :-\
Where's £1500 when you need it ::) :(

..............
yes :y

I do like that :)
Senators though like Omegas can wear the miles well, have to have stacks of MOT's/Paperwork to convince me that is indeed 51,000 miles
-

..............
yes :y
....... and it was a 10 disc changer, not a 6 disc like the Omega's ;)

How things change ... looks like a real classic now just like the carlton ;)
-
I'm going against the grain. Wouldn't pay anywhere near 2 grand for it. Some older cars "look" like they're worth a few bob, the senator just doesn't to me. Just looks old and tired. Only my opinion of course :y
-
If the mileage is genuine and its rust free, then a weekend cleaning and polishing would make it into a stunner again.
I still maintain they were the best full production car VX have ever made.

Dead right Albs ... though the digital dash puts me off ???
Here's Quentin Willson's agreeable tribute: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o3mnUUZSOjY :y

Damn site easier to work on too, unlike the V6!
-
I loved the digital dash.I still miss it.So much easier to read.Analogue dash seems like a museum piece after youve had digital.

I liked mine ..... never had a problem with it. ;) ;)

Known as the '30S' ... IIRC ... 'CIH' (cam in head) ... again, IIRC? :-\
An indestructible straight-6 lump ... and no timing belts te worry aboot! :y
-
It looked a lot easier to work on,but I wouldnt know asit never needed anything other than oil and filter changes. :)
-
I remember these cars. I LOVE the digital dash!
-
Why didn't they stick with simplicity >:(
-
loved the digital dash never had one sadly nearly in an astra gse once
favourite has to be the monze gse one of the best looking cars ever closest i got to it was a caverlier sports hatch ( manta equiv but not as good looking) complete with velour seats ;D ;D
-
yes ,, without doubt the straight six should have been used in the omega . fantastic engine :y :y :y

It was getting a bit long in the tooth ....... GM had been using it since the late 60s
-
I doubt the S6 could hve complied with modern emissions regs. The V6 also has one big advantage as its a very compact engine so can sit well back in the chassis and therefore gives a distinct handling advantage.
As a stand alone engine though, the S6 was a superior engine altogether imo.It could be tuned to nearly 400bhp and still be perfectly useable for everyday driving, whereas theres not much point trying to tune a V6 much more than standard as the bottom end is a bit marginal even in standard form.
-
Must admit I always preferred the Senator-I've had 2 of the B's both 12v models-to the Mig and still do.Just can't bring myself to pay anywhere close to 2 grand for a car though.
-
The rear arch which can be seen in the picture looks rust free, however the 'orange peel' on it tells me it's probably been painted, can see it more if you zoom in. Although it could be a trick of the picture. Still a cracking car though.
-
I'd love one lol! They sound awesome too ;)
Is that the same digi dash that ze geermaans had the option of in the turbo "Opel vectra A"??

am I right in thinking GM used several engines for a long period of time. seem to remember ETCG going on about how they keot a chevy 5 litre in the truck for like 30 years.... but it was considered one of the best engines ever... so I suppose why change :-\
-
They also used the slant four (half a U.S. V8) in all sorts of different cars (including the one in my avatar) and vans for donkeys years.Engine development is a vary expensive business. Hence Harley Davidson using the same engine in their bikes for the last 100 year. ;D
-
Harley's use truck engines don't they? ::) ;D
-
Compressor engines actually. ;) ;D
-
A lot of money to cut chips I think.

That's one fine example of a proper Vauxhall apart from the LC,Omega,Monaro etc. unlike the modern s**t being churned out these days..
There are a few Senators on eBay at the moment.
