Post by: tidla on 15 May 2013, 19:29:53
Just pulled all the old stickers off a van i have bought.

Whats the best method/product to use to remove the gluey residue left behind?

Thinners will take it off easily, but you'll need to be careful not to  press too hard or it'll take the paint off too.

Warm it up gently with a heatgun, and use a plastic scraper.
Alternatively your local signwriter or paint supplier will probably have something for just this job.

If the vans white, use Cif or similar kitchen cleaner with a cloth.
If its another colour, use Tcut or similar  ;)

Spot on sorry forgot that bit :y.......all other suggestions may work but this method is what was recommended by the company that has always done the signage on my vans. And i have carried this out quite a few times when the vans been sold worked for me on white and metalic paint  :y :y

Spoilt for choice here.

The stickers were removed using heat gun method.

Meths seems the easiest and cheaper solution and who ever mentioned thinners, yes your right it is a bit strong for this job.

Im aware citroen didnt put the paint on that well..

Thanks for the suggestions.
