Needed to get a few gifts for some members of staff that helped my team recently, so took one of the testing girls with me to Tesco as she would know what girls want ::)
Being a women and a bit lazy :-X - She offered to drive (its actually quicker to walk, but hey-ho!)
She drives a 2007 BMW Z4, not the usual choice for a gir I thought, manual too, not auto! I commented on the car, but she said, Ohh I'm getting rid soon, I'll be getting a Porsche Cayman S :o :o :o :o
She's only 24 :o :o :o
I decided not to mention I drive a 13 year old 160k family barge :-[

::) I remember that some time ago I told you to buy a M5-M3.. you wont be young again..
seems you are spending too much time with oldies :-\
-
You can have a nice sporty car at any time in your life.
Its just the power to weight ratio seems to diminish and you need a block and tackle to get out after a journey of more than ten minutes. :D
-
Yep get the fast sports cars out your system when you're young - once you get married & have kids a sports car is a PITA - had to get rid of a nice TR6 as it took longer to load up 2 kids and all their gear than drive anywhere! Flogged it and bought a 3 lit Ghia Granada.
Once the kids get older you can dip your toes again in the faster motors - I went down the track of running (as fun cars) a Ferrari Dino ('72) and a TR4A ('67) before I got divorced - still got the TR though ;)
Remember a red sports car adds an inch to your willie size ;D ;D

You could get a new Cayenne on lease for £700 per month plus initial deposit. She may get car allowance.
-
that would be a good car allowance time you take 40% tax off :o

It's a big problem. Lots of peaople assume that if you drive an expensive car that you're loaded. Really not so, it's all about priorities. I Once knew a guy who had a Bentley and his Mrs a big 4x4. They went bust, did a runner leaving huge debts. I never borrow (borrow/leasepurchase /whatever) money to buy car, don't have the cash then I don't get the car, easy :y
It's just a car remember.

I get feeling daddy maybe buying it for her ::)

well get in there he may have some change for an old jag :y or he may even have one he will let you borrow ;)

"Z4" and "sports car" in the same discussion? ???
-
I bet she doesn't live in the big smoke though - my money would be that she lives further out with cheaper rent and spends a large proportion of her income on her car instead of her house ;)
I know a few people like that - their car payments are nearly as much as my mortgage..

My thoughts to.
For me a sports car is a car that can be entered into motor type sports without re-building it from scratch first....

Yes, or at least one where the design priorities have been towards reducing weight and making a car that handles and has decent performance. Cutting and shutting a 3 series to appeal to fashion victims doesn't cut the mustard, I'm afraid. ;D

But my mortgage is very nearly finished ::) ::) ::)

A mate of mine who used to tour with our kit car group has just had a kid.. Hence the need for a third seat. The solution was a Cerbera. :-* Having spent some time in the same convoy last weekend, I'd say it "ticks boxes". :y
-
Trust he has a spare Cerebra for those 'when, not if' moments ::)

I don't think it's any worse in that respect to a kit car, which is what he'd be driving otherwise... As long as you get one with the engine that works - the AJP8.

The only main thing wrong with the Rover V8 are the Lucas bits ;)

Right :y so that's the ignition system and the fuel delivery system... nothing important then ::)

No, nothing that would strand you at the roadside ::) ;D ;D

You won't find a
ROver V8 in a Cerbera. ;)
You just don't want the straight 6.

Yes, it's aged well. Hard to believe it's a 1995 design.
IMHO the replacement V8 is MUCH more suited to a TVR than the Rover V8 though.

I don't know much about the AJP8 :-\ I know that the AJP6 wasn't particularly rated

The AJP6 has issues and is probably best avoided. :y
