Title: Wynns additive's
Post by: Mr.OmegaMan on 16 May 2013, 22:04:10
The 3.2 I've got has been standing a few months thinking about adding something like fuel / oil additives..

Like these

(fuel)
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Wynns-70701-500ml-Formula-Petrol/dp/B005QJWNTQ/ref=sr_1_6?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1368737825&sr=1-6&keywords=Wynns+fuel

(oil)
http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B0064M6ENK/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE
There seems to be a light tapping sound had to get my head under the bonnet to hear but its there..

Has anyone used these type's of products on (Omega's) with good or poor results  :-\

Thanks in advance..

Never had much luck with the lifter stuff until my recent 2.6 which it sorted within 100 miles, was a bit surprised to be honest !

Yep used the injector cleaner - good results but may take two treatments.

Never tried the lifter treatment , but Wynnes products usually do what they claim ;)
Found regular oil/filter changes best

Just done an oil & filter change, Old oil filter had a hole through it and pretty much crumbled in my hands, Looks like previous owner just did the oil not the filter ::) Was awkward to open very tight was easier seen as i removed the steering idler.

Wonder why the other is more than double the price then, Will probably go for the cheaper one.

Yep the cheaper one is ok  ;)

With the lifter issue cured mine on the Elite by a couple of quick oil/filter changes

Top one :y

Run the tank low, fill with Shell V power and add 2 bottles of that top Wynns, and take it for a good blast :y

Two bottles  :o Does it run ok with two seen as the instructions probably says one bottle to a full tank of fuel  :-\

I've only been running it on Shell V-Power Nitro+ since i've had it. ;)

I usually put a bottle in 1/2 tank, so 2 in a tankfull should be ok

I've seen lot of people on here rave about wynns products and I've also used them on a low (ish(64k)) mileage v6, that had seemingly done that whole mileage on one oil change, to satisfactory results. Lifter treatment and a engine flush bit long after quietned it down a treat and got all the crappy oil sludge out, also have always sworn by the occasional bottle of fuel treatment, my td's got it on every other fuel filter change ;)

Another thing that might be worth considering, is Slick 50.. I've always been against the stuff until recently, I put some in my 1.3 cdti and it quietned it down and I haven't seen any blue smoke out the exhaust since (it would smoke from cold if parked on a slope facing upward by the right angle and now doesn't) and I SWEAR my fuel tank gives me about 30 miles more since doing so, I also haven't blown it up yet as a result.  something you might want to look into???

I just find when buying from Amazon (not market place Amazon) such a breeze hassle free and quick free delivery and if any problems swiftly resolved with free returns... Unlike eBay a load of hassle and usually slow delivery although some seller's are quick for delivering.
