Having spent all day yesterday under the bonnet of my MV6, it looks as tho I'm going to be scrapping her :.(
I had quite major surgery last november, so was banned from anything strenuous all over the winter, and the car has been stood since then.
I had a major water leak last year, and topped up with plain water to get me home - you can guess the rest - it was frozen solid for most of winter :.(
My best guess is:
Head gasket (blue smoke and steam from exhaust - lots!)
Exhaust manifold
Heater Matrix
Radiators
HBV
Possibly some hoses.
that's on top of three punctures to fix + suspension bushings to replace + exhaust back end + quite a lot of body work to tidy up +
whatever else I find.
All the above, I'd cheerfully fork out for - but it's a manual, and I need an auto now, and it's simply not financial sense to spend potentially a couple of grand on a car that's possibly worth 1k at best and worth at least 300 for spares and scrap
So, I'm gonna be shopping for an auto estate in next month or so, then swapping some bits over (like the leather interior) - I'll be offering the leftovers on here before the shell goes to the scrappie
-
Sad news, but dont seem worth spending a fortune on it like you say . Strip the good stuff out and have plenty spares for your new ride then weigh the shell in :)
-
That's a shame as it sounds like my first baby is about to be no more :(
This is one car is love to revive, but sounds like it may be past that
-
I don't think it's neccessarily beyond revival, TBH - just beyond my means :.((
If you could pick up a scrapper with a decent engine, might only take another couple of hundred in gaskets and bushings.

RIP another one bites the dust. :( :(
