Title: Corporate Rebranding Launch
Post by: jereboam on 16 May 2008, 20:38:23
I've been at a Corporate Rebranding Launch all day.  It was dreadful :(  I need to find something to paint, so I can watch the paint dry and at least manage a couple of interesting hours today.

Shiny new logo, same bunch of to**ers running the company.   :(

Can't wait for Monday.  New regeime, exactly the same as the old regime, I'll bet.  But, no doubt, the management are confident that the vast sums of money paid to the "creative" agency is worth it.

Why am I reminded of "The Emperor's New Clothes"? :( :( :(

Ahh yes, been there several times, a great way of wasting time and money.....

I have had the same job and desk for 12 years......

6 different companies!!!!

admittedly there was an outsourcing deal in there as well, which they gave up and reinsourced us!

I worked for one retail company for 28 years which in 1989 spent £1.8m on a revamp with input from management consultants.  Within two years the company had halved its bottom line profit, the majority of the Board of Directors had been sacked, and it was all never the same again!  The company never recovered, nor did I! :'( :'(

I therefore feel very sad for your company after the revamp! :'(

...and, would you believe, clips from "Braveheart".  And "Activities".  And a Quiz.

If there was a Mission Statement, I missed it.  Could be we just weren't bright enough to think one up. :)

Come to think of it, that may be the Mission Statement - it seems to be the methodology we use for developing systems. :(

I once worked for a company as a contractor in the IT department......and nicely paid  ;) Then the company outsourced its IT department......they couldnt do anything about me for 6 months as my contract didnt expire until then.......then they offered me a fulltime post on 1/2 the wages.....I basically pointed out to them, you expect me to do the same work for 1/2 the wages.......ummmm no i dont think so......bye bye  ;D

I walked into another IT contract a week later.....albiet a fiver less an hour.......but not £15/hour less  ;) but probably saved the fiver difference by selling my SLK and buying the C220 diesel.....

Coz the original contract was 25 miles away, the SLK was using £40 of petrol every 4 days.........coz the new contract was in Swindon....the c220 used to use £40 of diesel once a month  ;D

Nothing so interesting, unfortunately.  Think more along the lines of "which team can build the highest tower out 30 sheets of A4 and few paper clips" and you will be able to establish the tone of the "event".

We had a guest speaker.  I couldn't believe he only rambled on for 75 minutes - it seemed like a week.  His topic - round the world sailing - is exactly the sort of thing that makes me turn the TV off.  Pity they didn't have a remote control for him... :(

May I suggest www.bulls**tbingo.net to liven up those boring meetings.
Replace the asterisks with the obvious.  ;D
