We have booked a wee holiday in Porthmadog in September , what with the new baby and dog we will be taking the Saab estate but reckon a roof box is needed. Can anyone tell me what would be best? Do I need roof bars for it to sit on or does it somehow attach to the bars on the car pictured below.
Any advice welcome :y

Yes, roof bars needed :y
Halfords roof boxes are pretty well made and not badly priced.

As you're not going until september .. keep an eye on fleabay ... I picked up mine, and a set of bars from within 40 miles, and in excellent condition, for very good prices ... collection was a tad humorous .. the folks with the box wanted me early in the morning .. I had to point out I had to go somewhere else first to get the bars to fit the box on !!! All sorted very amicably :)
Takes a while perhaps for one to come available in your "willing to travel" circle, but you never know your luck :)
Edit :
There's one close to you now .... if I've set the area right !!

Thanks for that Entwood :y, Wigtown is around 75 miles from me though, and I'm thinking I may need a larger box. :y

Roof bars needed. On that car, they will probably clamp to the bars you have.
I picked up my Karrite pikey box, 340l, from one of the towing shops on egay for abour £100 about 3 yrs ago. Provides plenty of storage, but the weight limit GM state for Omega is a limitation if you're putting anything heavy up there.

Won't be anything heavy, just clothing I would imagine. The prams gonna take up most of the inside space.

We use those vacuum storage bags to seal up cloths/sleeping bags/duvets/pillows that we put in the roofbox, just in case if water ingress.
That said, we've driven through some serious wet weather - including from Bristol to Hayle in torrential rain in March, when the rest of the country had that last lot of serious snow - and never had it weep in. Sods law will state that the day we don't put stuff in watertight bags will be the day it does weep ;D
Storing it for the 51 weeks of the year you don't need it also needs to be considered - I imagine long term UV sunlight won't do the plastics much good.
This is the one I bought, from that seller.
