Title: 27mpg on gas
Post by: tunnie on 25 May 2013, 15:25:22
Well with summer tyres on, decent weather and some nice runs, seen 27mpg on gas over last tank. Filled up at Shell in Ealing at bargain price of 69p per ltr :)

Gives me a cost per mile of 11.94p, if I was to run a diesel, I would need to average 54mpg to get same cost per mile.

Makes my comfy barge quite cheap to run  :D

Are you going by the mid? As LPG gets around 20% reduction compared to petrol, find it difficult to believe you could get 30 on gas unless its a top spec system

My 2.5 v6 is driven quite gently. The mid reads 24mpg,and real figure is around 20mpg.Not much motorway driving though.
Cavalier - equivalent to approx. 125mpg. Guess which one gets used 80% of the time. ::)

Zavolli system and not done by mid done by calculating amount of gas by miles  :y

Very surprised, most V6's struggle to do better than 20 on gas.  ;D

You either drive very very slowly or cruise at 56mph on motorway, no way that's achievable around town. I'd check your trip meter is accurate  ;D

i've had 3 gas omega's...2.5 elite saloon auto...averaged 20 mpg on gas between tank fulls..shit system though...2.6 mv6 saloon manual did 20 mpg on gas..and up to 27mpg on gas if doing 70mph on mway....my 3.0 elite estate auto...does about 16-17 mpg on gas although have had up to 22 mpg if doing a steady 70 mpg ...
my eclass 320 cdi does 45mpg on diesel @65 mph.... i also have a photo of the mid on my 3.2 mv6 which i think has just been sold to captain zok's son showing 38.7 mpg over a trip of 170 miles @ 60-65 mph

Now its warmer and lighter, I manage 18mpg from TBE :D.  Mrs TB manages 22-24mpg from the Silver Bullet. Both autos.

I reckon if the Silver Bullet was a manual, Mrs TB could beat Tunnie's 2.2, possibly get near/above 30mpg, as her daily journey involves a 10m stretch between here and shitsville (land oof the inbreds - sorry to any Banbarians here), where the slow traffic means she cannot attain torque converter lock-up, which crucifies her economy.

I did suggest to her a few weeks back getting a smaller deseasal, just as a Zaffy. She wasn't too keen, stating she needs the power of the MV6 :o
