On my new (old) Omega both the keys have been broken in the soldering that holds the battery. So there is a faulty contact which makes the remote key working occasionly.
I searched here and found a topic with a link to eBay were you could buy a new FOB case. Recommendations are to change the gut from the old key to the new one. But there is my problem I need new electronic boards for my keys.
How do you fix that and how do you reprogram it?

As far as I know you can use a top part of any matching type key :-\ you need to get it reprogrammed though and I think there is a way of doing it with the ignition :-\ I am sure there is a post on here somewhere or somebody will come along soon to tell you. :y

No, that's not right. You're thinking of re-sync'ing the key after battery replacement, reprogramming involves a Tech II :y

There was a bloke on the site (Martin Imber) that could replace the micro-switches on the PCB at a reasonable price, not sure whether he's still doing them though. The advantage though of repairing your existing fobs, is that you wouldn't need to do any reprogramming. :y

The battery holder becoming dettached is a trivial fix for anyone who has used a soldering iron before - far easier than changing the switches, which itself is really easy. I do a fair few of these, but don't really want to get involved in messing around with posting, so tend to only do it for local people :-[

My spare key is completely Knackered and missing that little black chip and looks as if it needs reprogramming :-\

Goes without saying then ::) ::). Pretty sure A N Other chip can be programmed to the immobiliser though. :y :y

Did almost lock the main key yesterday as the battery is disconnected after removing aux belt just incase the engine snapped my arm off locked the doors by pressing the locks down manually ;D luckily the key still opens the door manually haven't tried to start the car with the spare tho.

The chip talks to the immobiliser for the engine to run. As far as I know, it'll start & run for a second or two & then cut out ..... that's what happened to an Astra of SWMBO when Dr O here was programming a key that didn't want to play ball - assume the same for the Omega..

did'nt work for me,you need to have programmed via tech 2 ;)

Agree. Tech 2 needed on my car. Easy though when you have the gear
